never eat here

all the cooks are felons an drugys, same with most of the other umployes, the food is cheap an you should see how the cooks have there way with it, ive seen food taking out the trash an re cooked b.c some1 thouht it was still good, the dish washers just put dirty stuff away like it was clean, an some of the cooks have been caugh smoking crack/cocain in the bathroom an they wernt fired. i wouldnt eat here again if they paid me. people say if you work at a food place u wont eat there food. i now no why

Greatness lost

The quality of the food and service has gone way downhill since we started going in the 1960's. It used to be a special place and now is only another mid-priced italian alternative. I moved away in the 1980's and went back twice a year with the whole family when I visited. We stopped going. Wait staff was inattentive, though sometimes nice. Food was shriveled, barely warm (except the Wedding Soup which was cold). Not fresh and not good quality food for the price either.

I have fond memories of many good times, but after 3 bad meals in a row, it became a trend. I think other people have noticed too, as the weekend crowd was significantly thinner than in the past.

Too bad - if you like it now, you should have eaten there when..

Good Italian food

A nice family owned restaurant . Food is good with adequate portion size. The wait staff is pleasant. If you are on a budget the daily early bird specials are a great deal.

Excellent Food and Service

First i want to respond by saying that if you are reading this please overlook the one review just recently posted about ignorning TAT, this gentlemen definately should be reviewing movies and not food. I have been eating at TAT almost weekly since moving to Columbus three years ago. My coworkers who have lived here all their life all love it. The food is consistently good and they have a loyal customer base. I definately recommend it!! The gentlemen with the negative review from NYC maybe should go back there. I have had italian in NYC and have found that TAT is right there in quality with the big NYC restuarants.

The wait staff is always polite and goes the extra mile for me everytime. Great place with great food!!

Avoid at all Costs!

My girlfriend receieved a coupon in the mail for 50% and entree for her and a guest for Tat's so we thought it would be some good wholesome Italian food on a Saturday night. First off, I am from New York and have eaten at many different Italian restaurants all over NY and the great city of Columbus, this was by far the worst food I've eaten anywhere. For starters I ordered the wedding soup and a salad while my girlfriend just had a salad before her meal. The wedding soup I ordered seemed to be minestrone which I had no problem with so I kept my mouth shut. My girlfriend orded the fettucine alfredo with broccoli and peas while I has the chicken parmigiana, after biting into an almost frozen piece of broccoli in her fist size portion of food she was done eating. My small piece of chicken seemed like a joyride compared to my pasta that seemed as if it had been sitting out all day. All in all this was my worst experience dining in Ohio. They charge you $14.95 for a dish you can make in your own house and better, I would never go back to this establishment again and I have no idea how it has been in business this long.

• Pros: None I can think of.
• Cons: High prices, small portions, you might as well eat a box of crackers and save yourself the gas money.

TAT excellent all the way

My first experience with the TAT was excellent. The staff was very accomodating.

The food was outstanding. Our wedding soup was very good. No complaints here.

This is a family restaurant with Italian famly ownership charm. I plan to return very soon. I, too, would say that the previous reviewer either visited the restaurant on

an off-day, or is simply being unrealistic, incapable of enjoying a traditional, Italian meal. Fabulous, authentic, quality Italian food idoes not necessairly need to meet

'gormet', over-seasoned cuisine criteria. As an Italian - both parents Italian - a simple meal of well-prepared pasta, sauce, and bread is one that is satisfying and savory. The TAT is exactly this and more.

The worst

Nov 20, 2007; Okay, I did a previous review back in June of '05, which was bad. I wouldnt have returned, but was invited to a must attend business dinner there last week. This visit was even worse than the last!

Service was terrible. we were always waiting for our server to return for refills, or other items she forgot, or should have already brought out. Salads greens were brown and wilting, soup was served cold, and even more so, as we had to wait 8 minutes before we could get our server to bring out soup spoons.

Pasta was over cooked, but cold. The sauce was bland and starchy (probably old...from yesterday) and the mushrooms were rubbery, and appeared canned. One of my colleagues veal dinner was still frozen in the middle! The breads were hard and cold, and wrapped frozen butter was served on the side...the kind you get at Big Boy.

Our group size was 4, and 2 soups, and 3 entrees were sent back. Nobody ate the salads...one colleague said his ranch dressing was spoiled. Not one person liked the meal...we decided to pass on desert.

Even tho all the problems, our server never apologized, of offer the managers attention...she acted like we were the pain, and just didnt care.

This place has gone downhill for good. I predict a closing in the near future.

Good neighborhood restaurant

I had a much better experience than the previous reviewer. Maybe he hit them on a bad night or maybe Tat's owners read this site and responded, because my Italian Wedding soup was really quite good, and the baked haddock was, as well. It was also a very large portion of fish. The bread was warm, the waitress was friendly, and the prices were fair. It's not a gourmet's paradise, by any means, but my first experience there was a positive one. I'll definitely go back.

• Pros: comfortable, good food, family friendly
• Cons: not stupendous food

Just AVERAGE at best.

I cannot believe what I have read. I trusted all of you for an honest opinion and was let down. Nothing at all exciting about this food. Large menu many items but all standard, even the waitress was unpleasant. If this is what you consider a "wonderful" restaurant you need to get out in the world more. I tried the Sicilian delight in order to try many different items, but found it all tasted the same... blah. NOTE: all 4 of our party got the italian wedding soup one of us got a meatball in it. One good note is that the host was very pleasant. OK, the garlic bread was good too, but who can really screw that up. Hint to the owners: add some diffent spice to your red sauce and increase the portion sizes. We paid to much for what we got.

• Pros: nice seating staff, not crowded, large menu
• Cons: overpriced menu, bland food & sauces, waitstaff attitude
