Established On Perfection
by aahleica at Citysearch
My wife treated me to dinner at Morton's for my 50th birthday and I'll never forget the experience. The steak was superb and the service was unmatched by any that I've ever had. We ordered the warm Godiva chocolate dessert at the beginning of our meal. Close to the time that it would be served our waiter came and apologized because the preparation of our dessert was not perfect and policy forbidded him from serving anything less than perfect. We were not in a hurry so we waited and received - free of charge (Normally around $20) - an indulgence in chocolate that is positively beyond compare. Can you tell I liked Morton's? I bet you will too!

Lives up to the hype, but is it as good as Ruth's Chris?
by wolfwood at Citysearch
My wife and I went to Morton's for the first time last night for a birthday dinner. Of course we had heard great things, but in the back of our minds, we were wondering how it would measure up to Ruth's Chris, which we both love. Here's my comparison of the two, based on my experience: APPETIZERS - the Seared Ahi Tuna at Ruth's is good, but the Colossal Shrimp Alexander at Morton's is amazing. Morton's wins for this dish alone, however, my wife wasn't too impressed with her crab cake at Morton's. SALADS - At Morton's they are huge, but not incredibly tasty or inventive (and who wants to fill up on lettuce before having their steak, anyway?) The Ruth's Chop Salad is wonderful, so I will give them the edge here. SIDES - Again, I prefer Ruth's Chris. Their baked potato tasted better than the one at Morton's, and I'm quite partial to potatoes au gratin, which Morton's doesn't have. STEAKS - In my opinion, they are just about equal. I would give RC the slight edge on the taste of the steak itself, but as far as portion size, the double-cut filet at Morton's is impossible to resist. I do enjoy the whole sizzling butter thing at Ruth's, but the bernaise sauce accompanying the steaks at Morton's is FABULOUS... this puts their steak over the top for me. DESSERTS - My wife and I adore the Caramelized Banana Cream Pie at RC, but the Morton's Hot Chocolate Cake is out of this world! Slight edge to Morton's. SERVICE - In my experience, the service at Morton's was a bit better. CONCLUSION - Both are awesome places with fabulous steaks, and both are expensive, with Morton's being slightly more so. You really can't go wrong with either one... but if you were to ask me where I wanted to go to dinner tonight, I would probably lean towards Morton's.
- Pros: One of the best meals you'll ever eat.
- Cons: You're gonna pay for it.
USDA prime beef, elegant tableside service and mammoth martinis.

In Short
With its dark wood details, celebrity photos and tuxedo-clad waiters, this upscale steakhouse chain has the air of a posh men's club. Service is professional and discreet, with bartenders making a mean martini. Dinners begin with a waiter-driven cart laden with fresh vegetables, live lobster and cuts of steak; customers choose from porterhouse, rib-eye, bone-in prime rib and more. Side dishes are traditional and enormous, from baked potatoes and creamed spinach to steamed broccoli with hollandaise.
- Pros: steak favorite
Great food, but average service and poor valet
by Sybot at Citysearch
The food was great, typical Mortons which is a great thing. The service was average from our slightly rude waitress. We also missed out on the weekend Primerim because they only had end pieces left. The porterhouse was good as usual, but the filet was maybe one of the best Ive had anywhere. Sat us in the corner next to the wine bottles, terrible location with other cusotmers entering and leaving their booth seats. Valet was rude, spoke hardly any english, and my cars clutch (manual) was glazed. I didnt notice this until of course I left, and there is no point trying to fight this. I wouldnt go again, and I prefer the more suburbian Mortons locations, as they are less hectic and you dont have to worry about parking.
- Pros: Steak, fast seating with res.
- Cons: below expected service and valet
Morton's Steakhouse revved up my palate!
by baccala at Citysearch
Expecting to have "just another meal" at "just another restaurant," I never anticipated Morton's could quell the voraciousness of my imperious palate. Not only was the commodious milieu akin to that of one's own home, but the service was impeccable. The meal itself was second only to another meal at Morton's. From my table in the Columbus Morton's I phoned relatives in Kansas Cityand Scottsdale and convinced them to visit their local Morton's. I am convinced it is the only locale to leave completely satiated.

Quality food, service, wine selection, location and ambiance...not for your Outback Steakhouse crowd!

Mitchells is dry, Hyde Park has fallen off...the place for an excellent steak is Morton's. The food is fantastic! The atmosphere matches. One of our two servers was a bit excessive on the attitude, but i assume that was because of our age(22-28). Assigning the majority of the tip to the other waiter may have given him the clue to improve. appart from that minor problem everything else was fantastic. i couldn't have asked for any better.
- Pros: Presentation, Wine list, Location
- Cons: one rude waiter
Best Service

Imagine being royalty and having 3 servants around you catering to your every need. That is how you are treated here by the wait staff as they prep you on your meal and take care of you throughout the evening. it is not overbearing, it is simply that they are making sure that your experience is as you wish it to be. I will say that the steak is fantastic but I still believe that Ruth' Chris has the slight edge on taste. Still, it's a great filet and you can't go wrong. Very pricey but worth the tag for an evening. Recommend valet as parking is limited. Atmophere is clubby and a little stale. Nothing exciting about it.
- Pros: Service, Food
- Cons: parking, Price, atmosphere
