I highly recommend Amy if you are looking for a stylist who will really listen to your wants/needs; especially when it pertains to color. She took the time to really listen to what I wanted and made sure to look at the whole picture (personality, skin tone, eye color, etc) before determining the right color/highlights for me. I have never encountered a stylist who has taken that much time with me before doing anything with my hair. Overall, the atmosphere of the salon is lovely and completely free of any pretension.

I found Akada after reading about it here on city search. I was hoping that I would want to write a review after I went. I loved it, Amy did an awesome job of listening and understanding what I wanted. I went in not knowing exactly what I did want but I did know what I didnt want. I gave her a laundry list of ways that I didnt want my hair to turn out and she made it wonderful. I will def. go back. I don't think I've ever had such a great cut experience. Jamie

I love my haircut! Best I've ever had! You can't beat the price either. If you need a stylist, try Christina. She understood exactly what I wanted and gave me styling tips.

Best cut I've ever had! I am so glad I found Akada and my stylist Jamie! I have short hair and Jamie understood that although I my hair is short, I want it to look feminine. I like my hair cut with a razor and have found most stylist don't do this. But Jamie was very comfortable with the razor and did an outstanding job! She was even trained by Nick Arrojo (from TLC's What not to Wear). Needless to say, I booked my next cut before I left!

I found the Akada salon based on the reviews here on Columbus Citysearch and couldn't be happier! My daughter was on her college spring break and I wanted to take her with me to a new salon to get our hair cut and styled. We had Amy and Jamie for our stylists. We brought pictures of our favorite hairstyle and they delivered exactly what we asked for. We both are thrilled with the best haircuts we ever had! I have long and thick wavy and at times frizzy hair and Amy layered it into a beautiful style that is easy to manage. Amy took her time and answered all my questions about how to style and manage my new hairstyle at home. I went back a week after my first visit for color and highlights and Amy did an equally amazing job. I also love the Eufora natural hair products that they use and sell at this salon. The stylists here are very talented and I would consider them hair artists and in the top in their chosen field! Customer service here is the best I have ever experienced at a hair salon.

Pros: Friendly, talented, hair stylists and staff

Cons: Parking is limited

I thought I had unmanagable frizzy curly hair. I tried everything and then I found Amy at Akada Hair Salon by looking on the internet for hair salon's in columbus. I found some reviews that said she was great with curly/wavy/frizzy hair and on their website it said that they help people figure out what style works for them and give advice and tips on how to do it yourself at home. When I got there they offered me refreshments and I only had to wait a few minutes. I loved the atmosphere! Amy was everything the reviews said. She explained everything she was doing after the cut, so that I would be able to figure out how to do it myself at home. I tried it for myself this morning and it was really pretty easy since I now knew what I was doing. It looks fabulous! All my friends and coworkers were amazed at the transformation. I have an important business meeting tomorrow and now I have the confidence that I will be looking good! Thanks so much Amy! I'm reccomending you to all my friends.

Pros: Friendly, quick service, great stylists, soothing atmosphere

I had a fantastic first experience at Akada. I'm new to Columbus and picked Akada based on the reviews I read here. I would say that I am in a subgroup of customers that stylist's must find stressful - very picky, very worried (about hating the cut/it's too short/ not short enough) and anxious, but won't say that I'm not happy and leave the salon swearing I'll never go back. :) I saw Amy, and she was absolutely excellent. I was really happy with her consultation. She took time to communicate what we could do with my hair, made suggestions and explained why she thought it would compliment my face shape/hair type, showed me some pictures, and said that we could keep changing it as the cut went on until it suited my tastes. This was completely reassuring and took away the uncertainty and anxiety I have about getting my hair done. Usually I have a hard time telling the stylist if I don't like it, but because of the consultation, I felt more comfortable giving my opinion. At the end of the cut, it looked fantastic, but still wasn't as short as I wanted, so she took off another inch no problem. I am definitely going back.

Pros: They do great consultations and spend much time with you, easy to get an appt

Cons: Cash tip only, street parking only - which can get very busy

I am not an easy customer! I go from coloring my hair black to blonde all the time and I have had a really hard time finding someone who can help me with my indecisiveness. Amy at Akada understood and was willing and able to help me out. She did a great job on my color and kept my hair in good condition...which is hard to do since I have that frizzy, dry hair that must be flat ironed!! I am hard to please, but Amy did it wonderfully. I would highly recommend her!!

Pros: finally happy!

Cons: cash tip only!!

I consider a trip to Akada a day out. Tammy has been my stylist for over 10 years. I have never had a hair cut I didn't like. I actually followed her to Akada from her previous salon. Although the salon is not near my home, I make the trip because I trust Tammy 100% with my hair. If I ask for a specific cut, I get it. Often times, I give her an idea and I let her give me a cut that will suit my looks and lifestyle. Tammy knows I am a busy mom, so she always takes the time to give me a hair cut that will grow out nicely in case I don't get back in to see her for a while. My daughter also goes to Tammy at Akada. I was concerned about getting her hair relaxed at a young age. My daughter is a swimmer which added to my concern about the health of her hair. I have follwed Tammy's recommendations and have been very pleased with the outcome. Her hair looks great even after a summer in the pool. I wouldn't trust anyone else. Akada is a top quality salon, and I highly recommend it.

Pros: they are always wiling to work with my busy schedule

Cons: located in a busy area

Wow! I've been going to Tammy for almost two years now. She is very talented and has gone to some amazing classes all around the world. She has seen me through very short hair to medium length and I always leave happy. Tammy is very straight forward with what will and what won't work with my hair, I like that and appreciate her honesty. She always has new ideas about my color and they are always very cutting edge and yet easy for me to maintain since I don't have a lot of time to always get it done.

Pros: love the reminder calls.

Cons: depends on time of day parking can be tricky.
