i used to be a loyal client to this salon, but i witnessed the owner (mr Neal Jacob) be EXTREMLY rude and unprofessional to a top stylist of his. he interuppted the service that stlylist was doing along with everyones on the floor that day. i will never go there again. Mr Neal has gotten to big for his britches. he needs to remember that the stylists are who make the salon. not him! OVERRATTED

I recently set out on the impossible task of finding a new stylist in Columbus. I was referred to Drew at Jacob Neal Salon from a woman at the Mac counter at Nordstrom. Her hair was perfect for her age, coloring and personal look. I only could only hope to be so lucky. I called and spoke with a receptionist who was helpful and spoke highly of Drew as well. I arrived on the day of my appointment to be greeted warmly and offered a glass of wine, which I accepted to calm my nerves. The salon was not what I expected; it’s industrial but not intimidating. Drew met me at the chair with an easy smile and immediately offered suggestions to improve the grown out mop that was my hair. He took in to consideration my personality (edgy/professional), time I have available for styling (none), where I would like to see my hair a year from now (longer) and we were off. After color, cut and a styling “how-to” I was done. I looked younger and felt elated. I couldn’t help but hug Drew. The style has been the easiest I’ve ever had and I get compliments everywhere I go. Drew suggested a few products to help “us” get to our goal of longer hair, they smell wonderful and I really notice a difference in the way my hair feels. The price is slightly higher than what I have paid in the past, but you get what you pay for and this experience is worth every penny. This salon is beautiful, they focus on the customer and Drew is nothing short of amazing!
Pros: I didn't feel rushed or like I was just a number. Fun atmosphere.
Cons: None. Parking was easy and location is central in the city.

The Jacob Neal Salon, and especially Eddie who is at the director level, is awesome! You feel like you're in a hip urban salon in Chicago or NYC. Eddie is a fabulous hair stylist and I would highly recommend him if no matter if you're looking for an edgy cut or a conservative cut. He is extremely capable of doing it all very well! I desire an edgy (NOT trendy!) haircut, but also want to look my age (30s), and Eddie has created a very hip and unusual look for me without making me look like I'm trying to be 18. He's extraordinarily talented in achieving what you ask him to do, plus he's full of ideas. I constantly get stopped everywhere I go with people telling me they love my hair (my favorite comment was a woman who exclaimed my hair was hittin'!) Go see Eddie or any of the other talented hair stylists at Jacob Neal - you won't regret it. And remember, although their prices are high for Columbus (their prices are listed on their website), you DO get what you pay for. If you want more than just a trim, I'd highly recommend this salon. Plus, you can sip on wine or espresso while you're being worked on. It's fabulous! The Jacob Neal Salon kicks the **** out of Charles Penzone!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And I've tried 6 different stylists all at the director or sr. director level at Penzone's!)
Pros: Extremely talented hair stylists; atmosphere
Cons: Parking during busy times

My spouse used to fly to Chicago or D. C. to get a good haircut; I saved the money and had my hair cut locally, but was never satisfied. After finding Jacob Neal, however, we need drive no more than 90 minutes to have cuts every bit as good as the best we found in Chicago. We organize weekends around our hair cuts, and have learned that Columbus has a lot to offer as a result. In fact, the stylists at Jacob Neal are great sources of tips for new and great restaurants! Parking is poor, however. Avoid busy times if you at all can. (There is a pay lot nearby, so it could be worse.)

This is the best salon that I've ever been to. Their prices are extremely reasonable for the experience. True, they won't match the prices of Fantastic Sam's, but FS won't come near the quality or atmosphere of Jacob Neal. Enjoy a glass of wine, soda or water as you get your hair cut, and enjoy great converstation with stylists that are as friendly as they come. I should have prefaced that I am a straight male, so don't think that only women, or gay male can enjoy this type of luxury, this is for everyone! Give it one try and you'll be hooked. Did I mention the wine?
Pros: Stylist, atmosphere
Cons: Parking during rush hours...they will tow you on the street! Be careful.

The best urban salon in Columbus. Where else can you go in this city to have you hair cut by someone who has styled the hair of famous women? Absolutly love Jacob... he is a hair genius. The customer service is fabulous, the salon is cutting edge (no pun intended) and the fantastic and unique retail itmes are to die for.
Pros: cut & color, retail/gifts, ambiance/cust. serv.
