Great bar scene
by avidtraveler
The setting is that of a comfortable neighborhood bar. The night I was there a local jazz band was playing. The atomospere and vibe of the bar was one to remember. Not only did the band interact well with the croud, the bar staff was friendly and accomodating. I plan on visiting again the next time I am in Columbus. This was a great find.
- Pros: Cheap drinks, great music

Part friendly neighborhood bar, part raucous nightspot, this club is staple of the local music scene.

The Scene
Located in the happening nether region between the OSU campus and Clintonville, Oldfield's on High looks like the side of a grounded ship from the outside--it's a wall of green, wooden planks with diamond-shaped, portal-sized windows. The interior is divided into three spaces that are visible to each other; the bar area and the pool room bookend the performance space, which has a small, one-riser-high stage.
The Draw
Boasting quick service and an commitment to a supporting a diverse range of local music, Oldfield's is a reliable member of the Columbus club world. Local bands are booked nearly every night of the week, while a regional or national act comes through once in a blue moon. The crowd is largely made up of groups of friends out for fun and dedicated music fans.
Comfy and Cheap

This is a great place to see up and coming local bands! It is smoky, but the beer is cheap and the service is great!
- Pros: Inexpensive, Good service
- Cons: Smoky

Oldfield's on High is an overall great place to be....especially on Sunday night. Hoo Doo Soul Band is always on fire Sunday nights!! The staff is friendly and courteous. I have been a loyal patron of Oldfield's for a very long time. The owners are down to earth people who know how to have a good time!
- Pros: decent parking, great drinks, great crowd
- Cons: smoky
South Clintonville hoppin'

Good mix of friendly 20 and 30 somethings. People don't hesitate to have a good time with prices that aren't out of wack. Definitely my favorite place for club live music. I've seen Alton and Friends as well as Hoodoo Soul Band and I recomend both very highly. Other clubs in the area that I like are Patrick J's, Ledo's as well as Mozart's Pastry Coffeehouse. Hound Dogs 3-Degree Pizza is a great place to chill after bar hours with exceptional pizza (choose from 3 different sauces).
- Pros: happening but cozy, cool places nearby, good mix of people
