User Reviews for Newport Music Hall

1 Star Rating: Not Recommended

I recently attended a concert at the Newport Music Hall. Everything would have been fine - the music was good, the beer is a little overpriced ($4 for domestics), and it was crowded. The main problem was it was below zero temperatures outside, and they didn't have the heat on!!!! We kept our coats and gloves on but eventually had to leave because it was SO COLD!! Tickets to the concert were $19, so you would think with a couple thousand people there, they would turn up the heat!

Pros: good bands

Cons: , crowded, overpriced

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I've been to the Newport more times than I can count. It's small, but not cramped. Small enough to offer a personal experience with a band. The sound is great, though bouncers tend to be lame. But who cares about them anyway? The pit's always a good time and a lot of good bands play there. Plus you can just round the corner and meet your favorite artists afterward. I actually gave Joe Gittleman from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones a ride back to his hotel the last time they were in town. Righteous!

Pros: Smoky, Dark, Loud

Cons: Bouncers

Perfect setting for a rock concert. This venue has all the fixings for a classic rock show. Its cathedral build, balcony and "dark" setting gives it all the character in the world. Hopefully it can hold on in the area it's in. The artists seem to perform more naturally here than in a "big, shiny, new venue". The Newport, "keeps it real" if such a term still exists!

Pros: variety seating, classic venue, decent bands

Cons: clean it up

One of the oldest rock clubs in the country shows no signs of slowing down.  See the full editorial review.
