We have gone to Sher-E-Punjab many times, including having large parties catered by them. The food has always been good before. Yesterday we ordered take-out. I tasted the chicken tikka masala and it was clearly not good. It tasted fermented, which was different from usual. My wife drove all the way back and exchanged it for a new batch. The owner told her to taste it. She can't drink milk so she doesn't eat chicken tikka masala, but felt intimidated by his tone so she tried it and said she didn't know, she thought maybe it tasted okay. But when she brought it home we could tell that the new batch also tasted fermented. She called right after but the woman (younger) said that the owner had gone home, but that they wouldn't give us our money back since we had taken the food. We said we'd bring it back, and we made another trip there today. That woman was there and said no, she wouldn't give us our money back. She said "Maybe our food isn't right for you and you should go somewhere else." Are you kidding me? Even after we explained that we come there all the time and that I HAD TO STAY WITHIN A FEW STEPS OF A TOILET ALL DAY she was indignant. Honestly, we have to recommend to everyone that you avoid this place at all costs. A shame since it is 1 block from our house, but we'll be driving to a place that doesn't try to pass off spoiled food and blames its customers for not knowing how food should taste.
Pros: Convenient location, good parking
Cons: Staff treated me like I was stealing b/c I told them the food was spoiled.

The staff was friendly, but I'd leave the positives about this resteraunt to just that. The food was absolutely horrible, especially for the price we paid. The biryani tasted like the processed, packaged Knorr/Lipton Mexican rice, and the shish kabob tasted nothing like authentic Indian kabobs, which are usually absolutely mouth watering. My husband is Indian, so we are both used to eating authentic Indian food... this resteraunt did not even come close. The only reason we ever go out to eat Indian food, is to get something that is generally too complex and time consuming to make at home, so we expect it to be exceptionally good at a resteraunt. The processed taste and lack of traditional, authentic spices in the food came as quite a disappointment to both of us. It was just a very disappointing experience and a total waste of money, as this place is not cheap. It's better off to stay at home and cook your own Indian food.
Pros: friendly staff
Cons: expensive, horrible food

I went here with a friend of mine, and ordered the chicken saag, extra spicy (I like my indian food to burn on the way down). And the manager asked on a scale of 1-10 how hot, he seemed overly concerned as if worried that I couldn't handle the spiciness. Not knowing what to say I said 8. The dish they brought out, while flavorful and very good wasn't even what I would consider spicy at all. So my recommendation if you like your food hot, make sure you tell the guy that you're a regular coinnoisseur of spicy cuisine or else you'll get the standard fare. Otherwise, this place is great, I love the atmosphere and the authentic indian music.
Pros: Ambience, food
Cons: Rather small dining area

My husband is from Pakistan and I am American. ( just so that you know that my views are coming from both directions! We go here often and LOVE the food. The staff is sooo friendly and even if the food wasn't as good as it is we would probablt still go there because of this. The buffet is excellent and always kept fresh ( which is not thecase everywhere) It's a great place to go casually or when dressed up. Very family friendly enviornment!
Pros: close parking, quick seating, family friendly

Aside from Barley's Russian Imperial Stout, the vegetarian buffet on Tuesday night at Sher e Punjab is by far the best thing about Columbus. Huge selection, lots of appetizers, lots of chutneys, two desserts. It's hard to be a vegetarian in Columbus - this is a great treat! All for $10. Plus the guys are all super friendly! Despite what some say, I am never disappointed with the quality of the food at SeP. While I can't attest to the "authenticity" of the fare, I can say that it's among the best Indian I've tried from coast to coast.
Pros: Veggie buffet, friendly service, value
Cons: location

The atmosphere stinks but the food was the closest to quality Indian food I have found in Columbus (I haven't been to all the Indian restaurants yet, though).
Pros: good food, they sell liquor
Cons: bad atmosphere, little pricey

As an Indian, I would rate this a mediocre establishmnet. Just another Indian place at a strip mall. The guy at Shere -E P has no pricing sense. He serves ordinary Indian food at exotic prices. He needs to make an effort to price the food on par with its standard. Also, they can be rude at closing time!

Very good food. Large portions. It's the best non-vegetarian Indian Restaurant in Columbus.
Pros: choices, taste, portions
Cons: price
