Don't go. So many better options!.
I'm not sure where to start. I had a very unpleasant experience when I went looking for my wedding. It was my first time looking and I was so excited. When they found out it was my first time, I wasn't taken seriously since "I wouldn't buy anything today" and I was rushed through my appt. The woman who helped me was rude and it felt very cold and unfriendly there. It was completely the opposite at the shop where I eventually bought my dress.
Then, my best friend went (against my suggestion) there and found a dress she liked. She was pressured to commit to it then. Did not like the pressure sales tactic. Her dress was 3 months late and the owner said when asked what was causing the delay, that "dresses for midgets take longer." My friend is 5'3" - who says that to a customer? (You can't make this stuff up, he really said this to her). Dress came, he didn't make the necessary alterations until she came back and pressed him on it. Then they told her to have it pressed/steamed somewhere else, they don't do that.
The bridesmaid dresses was another experience. They took the wrong measurements for one bridesmaid and her dress is was too short (It was a long dress, so what the heck do you do?!) She had to wear flats. Not a big deal- she was probably more comfy the rest of the night! But, they put in the wrong measurements for her. That's bad.
Anyway, there are SO many better bridal boutiques out there in Columbus where customer service exists and creates a very pleasant and wonderful experience -as it should be!
Worst Experience Ever!.
I would rate this no stars if i could it was that bad...
I tried calling multiple times to set up an appointment and nobody called me back. as soon as I finally got a hold of someone they told me I couldn't make an appointment for bridesmaids. I explained to them I have a large party of 7 girls + a jr + my mother and if they were ok with us all pulling dresses and trying them all on I was good with it.
I specifically wanted a dress that not a lot of shops carry. I asked them to pull it and they didn't, just pointed me to the corner where the designer was located. I loved the dress and decided to order it that day since all my maids were there. They measured everyone and Alan himself decided to call out all of my maids sizes in front of the entire store, which was mortifying.
I also asked them to order me a swatch which they didn't have at the store and they put that on the order.
They told me the dresses would be 4-6 weeks. I called in two weeks later to make sure everything was good to go and after calling them everyday for another week and leaving messages, sometimes twice a day, I learned the order had not been placed yet. Nor had the swatch been ordered. They actually told ME to contact the designer and order it myself, because it is hard for them to do that since they are so busy.
Once again I got a bad feeling and called (again with my message never being returned) to check in to make sure everything was on track because at this point it has been the 6 weeks since the second time I told them to order the dresses. I decided to send them an email to see if they would respond any faster they sent me back an email saying how I "misunderstood" them and they meant to tell me the dresses would be in 4-6 weeks before my wedding because this is the busy season. They also at one point blamed the designer.
I ordered the dresses in December for a July wedding... how is that during the busy season?! How can you not get them here in a reasonable amount of time?! My maids paid a lot of money for these dresses and the fact that they STILL don't have them is ridiculous. Lets not mention that the swatch still isn't here either, which is needed to coordinate groomsmen attire.
This place is pitiful. Brides beware!! There was nothing good about my experience and I am praying nothing gets messed up with my maids orders because this shop clearly does not care!
Don't waste your time....
Somebody is completely incompetent or outright lied to my face about their inventory.
Bottom line ladies - Go somewhere else. The reviews don't lie. Alan Ray and their employees are not worth the stress and hassle. They are amateur, useless, and rude. They only care about making the sale.
I wish I had read these reviews before choosing them.
I went in because they were having a 20% off sale on bridesmaid dresses and wanted to get my girls a good deal. I wanted to talk to someone about what I needed to do and was greeted by the rudest sales person Ive ever met. Not only did she not know the answers to my questions but treated me like it was my fault she didnt know how long the dresses took to get in. Needless to say I left and decided to find the dresses elsewhere, which I did and the dresses cost the same even with only 10% off them.
They are rude and try to rip you off, dont even bother walking in.
Extremely Rude Staff. I was told my bridesmaid dresses would come in between 12-16 weeks. At 20 weeks I started calling. They never answer the telephone. I left several voicemail messages that were never returned. My maid of honor started calling. She finally got a hold of someone who said they would look into it and get back to her. My maid of honor was never called back. Finally at 24 weeks I was called to be informed that the dresses were in but not the purses. I never ordered purses but it was a part of a promotion that I was never told about. My maid of honor goes to pick up the dresses and is told when she asks why it took so long that it is a MINIMUM of 12-16 weeks and since my wedding is still 3 months away why am I worried. When she mentioned how frustrating it was to never have messages returned she was told they they only discusses orders with the bride. (Even though one employee took down her contact info and specifically told my MOH that she would call her back.) And why have none of my messages been returned? I'm the bride. Now it is less than 6 weeks to the wedding and still no purses. The staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. If you ask for explanations all you get is the runaround and rudeness. I went to this place on the recommendation of someone I knew. I will never buy anything from them nor recommend them to anyone.
I really enjoyed my experience at Alan Ray Bridal. I came in to look at dresses in February this year. It was my first time looking for a dress. I came in with a very basic idea of what I wanted.
From the time I stepped in I felt like I was their only customer (and there were a number of others in the store at the time). The girl that helped me find the dress was very knowledgeable and immediately knew what style dresses to look for, accord to my body shape.
We picked out 10 dresses to try on. She was very honest and told me when something didn't look right and explained why. She was wonderful. I would never have known what to pay attention to in the shape of a dress.
The first dress I tried on, ended up being the dress that I chose. I was very impressed with all the staff. My dress looked amazing. Alan did the alliterations and the price I got my dress for was a steal. I bought the Maggie Sottero Aurelie for under 1200 dollars.
If you want to truly helpful experience when finding your wedding dress I recommend Alan Ray Bridal to you. The staff was honest and helpful.
rude, never answer phone. order dresses really big and charge an arm and a leg for alterations. dress colors great but I am heading to other places for alterations! I could have found better service closer to where I live. They knew I was not going to have my flower girl dress altered there. It came in before my bridesmaid dress did. I asked if they could hold it til both were in together for me to pick them up. I live an hour and a half away. They said no they do not store dresses. I went and picked it up, and a week later they call me and tell me the bridesmaid dress was in. now...I am driving down again...ridiculous! what is one week to have held that flowergirl dress for me???!
I will never order from a bridal shop again!.
I ordered a dress for my daughters wedding from Alan Ray Bridal. It is a Jade dress # J9921 from the Jasmine line. I loved it in the store because it really flattered my figure. The store owner suggested I order it in a more shimmery chiffon type fabric. I also ordered it in petite one size smaller since I joined an excercise class. In the mean time I lost 18 lbs. I thought I would love the dress when it arrived but the fit was terrible. It is really tight under the arms, the straps fall off my shoulders, the top of the zipper needs taken in because it looks baggy all around the bust. I am really unhappy with the dress. To make matters worse Alan Ray bridal wants another $80 to alter it. When I buy a $100 petite dress from a deptartment store it always fits perfectly. Why does a $304 dress from a bridal store fit so poorly? I was expecting a better quality ...instead it is the worst fit I have had to deal with.
I asked Alan if he would give me $100 for the dress since they sold their sample but he declined.
Very helpful and knowledgable staff. I bought my wedding gown from Alan Ray. The sales woman was amazing. She wouldn't give up until I found a dress I liked - not in a pushy way though - and never lost patience with me. Alan Ray's staff is so helpful and knowledgle, I felt completed comfortable with their suggestions and have no worries that my dress will come in the wrong color or size, etc. Even when they're busy, they take the time to answer all your questions without making you feel rushed. They have an amazing selection of bridesmaid's dresses as well. Highly recommended.
Best bridal shop in Columbus!. Excellent selection, great service, very nice sales lady, hands-on owner...loved it. After having several bad experiences at Wendy's bridal it was a relief to feel like my business was wanted at a store. I adored the sales lady and she was very helpful and catered to my every need. I had a great experience and will be ordering my dress very soon!
