Editorial Review for Papa John's Pizza – by Jason Clampet
In Short
These bright white storefronts are accented with green and red details and photos of the chain's boyish founder. The simple menu focuses on standard pies and chicken-centric specialty pizzas--the Hawaiian BBQ, BBQ chicken, and bacon and chicken club--each topped with fresh ingredients like baby portobello mushrooms and roma tomatoes. A selection of sides includes bread sticks, cheese sticks, chicken strips and a handful of dipping sauces.

Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more with the previous reviewer. I know that pizza preference is a deeply personal thing, but I truly feel Papa John's pizza is some of the worst out there. The crust is doughy and bland, the tomato sauce is watery, and you can hardly taste the cheese. And as for the 'garlic butter' dip that comes with it.... Omg, it's horrible. I've had PJ's 3 times, hoping it might be better, but it wasn't.

Sure, Papa John's will never be able to compete with locally-made restaurant pizza, but it is definitely the best chain pizza you can get. Their bread sticks with cheese sauce are great, and I am really a fan of their sugar-sweetened sauce.
Pros: Inexpensive
