Worst Dining Experience of My Life. I went to Champps for dinner and the UFC fight last night, and it was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Our waiter was distracted and inattentive. We had to keep calling him over when we wanted service, and then he continually got our order wrong. We asked him to leave off certain items . . . and they all came with our food. When the food finally arrived, it was not good and not hygienic. For instance, we had a cherry stem in one of our water glasses, a hair in our ribs, and a hamburger that was worse than Wendy's $1 special. (They comped us for the ribs and the rest of the order on that cheque, but still . . .!) Their showing of the fight itself was equally bad. They changed over to it a few minutes late, which meant we were all staring at Rob Zombie's Halloween for about five to ten minutes. The sound cut out in one of the main events, and it took them fifteen minutes to restore it. To top it all off, they accidentally took one of our party's hat from the table, and didn't bring it back until we asked about it. Just a terrible experience. It might be a decent chain, but this particular branch should be avoided.
Sports restaurant-bar draws fans who love the food as much as the game..
In Short
Using their original burgers-and-beer joint in St. Paul, Minn., as a base modl, this sports-themed chain is now a popular hangout for all ages nationwide. The memorabilia-loaded space is crowded with families and friends chatting over chili cheeseburgers, bourbon-glazed pork chops and large orders of soups and salads. On major game nights, the shiny wooden bar area is packed with small groups eyeing the monitors above while cheering or grumbling into their pints and fries.
Where else would you watch the game?. For my family, they have everything you'd want. Great food for everyone from the kids to grandma. My wife seems to always get the salmon or maybe a huge salad. While I can get a steak, or a burger, or a giant slab of ribs. Over the top, friendly servers each time we go. They always make us feel like they've met us before, even they haven't ever taken care of us before. And they have the best seat in the house for whatever game I want to watch. Sound up on football games is wonderful with all the plasmas and jumbo TV. The best part is, I can watch three and four college games at the same time AND somebody's bringing me a cold beer in a frozen mug. As you can tell, my family are big fans!
Leave it to Caesar!. Champp's has a laid back sports bar atmosphere--you can show up in a suit or sweat pants. The portions are HUGE! I'm addicted to their Caesar Salad and their Crab Bread is also wonderful. My husband and I frequent about once a month--we just can't stay away!
