Tips for Home Depot

Poor Shopping Experience. Since I moved to Columbus six years ago, the Cleveland Ave Home Depot has been my primary home improvement store due to the convenient location. They have never had good customer service. In fact, you would be hard pressed to get any of their employees to ask if you need any help. As a former Home Depot employee, it is company policy for an employee to interact with customers within their immediate vicinity. This is a policy that this Home Depot is clearly not following.

My last straw with this Home Depot occurred today, when I wanted to simply buys five bags of paver sand for a walkway project I wanted to work on. When I went to get the sand, there were around 100 bags, all of which were broken open in varying degrees. I could not find a single unbroken bag. In addition, the type of paver block I needed was understocked. I was in there for 1 hour, and not one employee approached me for assistance. They were not very busy either. I could have gone out of my way to track someone down for help, but it was becoming clear to me that I should be taking my business elsewhere, so I left.

Once I got home, I called to the store to ask when the next shipment of paver sand was anticipated, and I explained my current experience. They did apologize, but then recited various excuses to justify the experience, which in itself is not good customer service. There should be no excuse for this experience. I will be going 10 extra miles to Lowe's from now on.
