ONLY PLACE I GO FOR HAIR. I highly recommend this Charles Penzone location, if you get the right hairstylist you get amazing results. I have been going there for over 6 years and have alway went and seen Kay. I have never been disappointed at all. I will be going for nails in a couple days for the first time at Charles Penzone and I am hoping for good results on them!
If you want awesome eyebrows or facial. If you want amazing waxing and facials go see Eva. Very nice Polish woman with a beautiful accent.
Logan Is The Best Massage Therapist I've Ever Had!!. I love getting massages and I've had every type from reiki to shitasu. I've tried every other therapist at Gahanna and they are all mediocre. I've never had a massage that felt amazing and worked out every stiff and sore spot in my neck and back. Usually therapist say it has to hurt for it to get better and that ruins the massage. I was a bit hesitant to go to a man but he was very polite and courteous and I can't wait to go back. Logan is AMAZING!! and he is soooo HOT!!
highlights and cut. I had asked for blonder highlights around my face and my hair was darker than what it was when I went in. my appt. was with a executive director so my expectations were high. I was very dissatisfied! the whole time she was doing my hair she was trying to sell me tons of products that totaled over 100 dollars! Very disappointed!! I will not go back there!
Mixed Feelings About Manicures.
I've always had shortish natural nails, and decided to try the new Axxium gel manicure as I have a hard time preventing chips. It lasted two weeks, and I LOVED it.
When I returned to have it reapplied, though, rather than "soaking off" the gel as the service description says, the nail tech used tools as you would on fake nails to do a "balance" She filed down the color a bit and applied more. I should mention that this shaved at least 15 minutes off the stated service time -- not coincidentally, she'd left me a voicemail earlier in the day asking if I could move up my appt. because she'd had a couple of cancellations and wanted to leave early. Of course, I didn't get charged any less.
After four weeks, I decided to go back to a regular manicure which I could remove myself. In addition to again using tools to "hack" off the color, the same tech also used clippers rather than a file to trim my nails, which was kind of harsh and left them a little choppy. When I took the polish off, I saw my nails were dry and dull, and a couple of them had breakage.
I might do Axxium again, but would demand that they soak off the color and not treat my natural nails like acrylics. I sure wish I liked the service more, as the hours and location are convenient, and I'd become a regular customer if it were worth the $$.
$160 for hair highlights like a skunk.
Just moved to Columbus from the east coast and was told this was the premier salon. Even for the east coast these prices are ridiculous. When I was growing up in the 1970's highlights meant "hair striped like a skunk". I thought it looked bad then and and still do. Little did I know that the most expensive salon in Columbus still highlights hair in stripes, even after I asked them to make it look "natural". I cancelled the redo appointment b/c then I'd just have to tip someone else whose competence is equally questionable.
The JC Penney salon in smalltown Ohio charged me $60 for a decent highlighting job, after I walked in and picked someone randomly. I'll never darken the door of any Penzone's again. It's a joke.
Hair HAXXX!!!. On two separate occassions I got hacked at this place and got charged $150 to do it. The other services maybe nice but not the hair cutting. Go somewhere else where they know what customer service is and how to listen to what you want. I requested a senior director and she acted like she didn't need to listen to my input. She cut too much of my hair off in what amounted to somewhat of a mullet...I was mortified. I still am...
Permanent Eyeliner.
I went to the Charles Penzone Grand Salon last spring for permanent eyeliner. My consultant was intelligent, skillful and a true artist. She spent a great deal of time explaining what was going to happen to me and what results I could expect. She showed me before and after photos and we talked about what I wanted.
She delivered. There were no surprises and I got everything that I was hoping for. I highly recommend Charles Penzone.

NEVER again!.
I went to the salon on Cherrybottom and the guy who colored my hair was terrible. He was doing a weave - blonde. I left the salon with purple hair and the charged me for it. He consulted with lots of people, but didn't resolve the problem ( we're talking BRIGHT purple).
I went to Max - another CP salon - and had 3 of the worst haircuts ever.
