Tips for Toyota Direct

May 08, 2013

Will never ever buy another Toyota or from Toyota Direct Saying they "found" the issue with our car but refusing to fix it because the field tech guy who came from Toyota manufacturing couldn't "re-duplicate the issue they originally found!!! Ridiculousness!

No stars. Waited 3 hours for a quote on 2 vehicles and when we finally got a price, it was the online price. We knew that 3 hours ago, so when we said that the price was an insult the sales manager, Kevin, said "You don't think this is a deal?" Do not go here, ever.

Worst Customer Service - Rude Finance Department. I am extremely disappointed in this car dealership. I tried to work with them in 2006 for my Scion and ended up going to Germain and getting a great deal and positive experience. We live right near Easton so it would be easy for us to get a car through there. The salesman was very nice and I liked him a lot - Michael was his name.

We came in on a weeknight and after going through all the rigamarole, we couldn't get approved for the car because the bank wasn't open and they had to submit it first thing in the morning. They were going to call me right away at 10am and let me know. I called them at 11:30am the next day and Drew said he was waiting for the bank and would let me know. They called back to give me the terms.

Originally, when asked what they could do to get us to drive home in a Camary that day, we said $0 down and $350/month payment. They said they could accomodate that - but when it came down to it they wanted $2,000 and a $365 payment. Anyway - I thought the whole experience was weird. The finance guys are all buddy buddy with each other and it makes you feel like you are interfering with their social life by asking questions. They also tried to tack on a $15 gap insurance monthly fee that I can get through our car insurance for much cheaper.

We went back again to finalize the deal after we negotiated what we thought and then they weren't going to give us the trade in value we asked for which was $500 more than they wanted to give us to trade it in. They refused to haggle on the car we were turning in - even to meet us half way so we left.

No one from the finance department ever came over to ask us if we had questions or try to remedy the situation. They left a 3 year lease deal on the table for $500 on our trade in. We ended up leaving and after we left they called me at least 8 times while I was at other dealerships driving other cars to tell me that they would give us the $500 for the car.

The entire deal was done in the middle of their showroom with everyone around to hear our conversations and finances.

Poor customer service. Period.

Our sales guy should have stayed at Germain. Go to Germain if you want to be treated right at a Toyota Dealership.

FYI. I wish we could give Toyota Direct ZERO stars!

Last January, we went to Toyota Direct to buy a car to get us through Ohio snow. We took home a car that the salesman said was front wheel drive: except that it wasn't.

The dealership wouldn’t undo the deal. We had to trade it in – plus $3000 – towards a comparable car that really was front wheel drive. And that had a bum transmission, as we found out within a week.

"Luckily," the transmission was covered by a warranty. We took it back to Toyota Direct for repair four consecutive times, and the problem got worse - and scarier - with each repair.

The car sat in the shop for 10 months while we tried to resolve the situation with the dealership. Finally, we paid for a new transmission ourselves (which solved the problem).

Needless to say, we won’t be back, and we thought it was important to share our story.

Nothing but cheating and lying....... Where to start...

*the sales person was very nice and until it got to finances, everything was great

* we were charged the wrong price for the car during the financial portion

* we notified toyota direct of the mistake and we were not given the WRITTEN QUOTE for the car, instead they only gave us the emailed quote (which was $1000 more)*

* this was a lease, so they charged us more on the fee percentage when we came in to resign the paperwork, and after 1 hour of us asking and the finance manager changing subjects, finally admitted to knowingly lying to us....all the while have an ethical association on his desk!!!

Overall this was the worst experience of any kind of purchase. I have owned 5 new cars, 2 homes, and many other items and never before have so many people been so full of......

Lastly, they had the gaul to email and call me about purchasing a new vehicle for myself....the ONLY reason I gave them a 1 star is because 0 and minus stars aren't an option.
