Diners Delite!!.
I have been in Tommy's many times.
To address some other reviews, the food quality has not fallen of, the noise is part of the attraction and if you feel that the diner has lost something, I'm sorry!
Perhaps your appreciation of Tommy's is not what it should be!!
A true diner.
Tommy's is the place to be if you are looking for a true diner. I like hotel breakfast spots, normal restaurants like Bob Evans, even Cap City Diner which tries to bring back the diner feel in a way, but if you want an authentic diner where the people are just as good as the simple food Tommy's it is.
It's old-fashioned, it's fun and I always leave happy that I made the decision to go. The waitresses are some of the best and nicest, the food is great - all comfort food all done perfectly.
So, if you like the way diners used to be, and you dont want to be handed a buzzer to be seated and rushed out the door and you're looking for good breakfast and lunch food wtih friends or family - go to Tommy's.
Get the panckaes or the greek omelette.
What happen?. I have been eating off and on at this diner for over 20 years. It has went from really good food at a good price to just SAD! Tommy's has falled victim to "Celebrity", they have lost focus on the quality of food they produce. The diner it's self really is just to LOUD. People need to remember their inside voice just like they are always preaching to their children to do. Tommy it is great to be friendly but the food matters as well.
breakfast. A great breakfast spot. When my favorites there is a corned beef hash, with two poached eggs on top doesn?t get any better than that, unless you have the pancakes
Great place, great food!. I eat here every Sunday... EVERY Sunday. I moved to Columbus in June 07 and have been eating Brunch there every Sunday since. You can't beat the food, prices and atmosphere!!
Greasy spoon diner. If your looking for good sized home cookin. Tommy's is one of the places to go to. Pricing is good for the potions you get. their best is the breakfast menu.
be prepared to wait.
The best thing about Tommy's is the atmosphere and mix of people from all classes and walks of life.
The worst thing is you often have to wait and wait and wait. I suppose in that way Tommy's is a victim of its success.
I've been there ten times or so and whie the staff is friendly and service good, the food is mixed. I have yet to be served something great or completely inedible, except perhaps from fried catfish that was more of a mystery meat.
Expect glitzy 50s decor and hope for average entrees.
Great service, good consistant food, fantastic service. From the time you pull in to the parking lot (just expanded), to the time you leave you will feel at home. Greetings by the wonderfull staff, owner, owners son, or brother in law when you walk in lets you know you are appreciated and welcome. Service is prompt and no special request is too small. Food is always warm and consitant at every visit. The Diner is full of life and if your not careful you might make a new friend or two. If you are in the mood for a quiet breakfast for lunch, take one in a brown bag and go to library and eat. This is a "Diner" people! It is a live and vibrant atmosphere! If you want poor service go to Dan's Drive Inn, and If you want funny tasting burgers go to Rallys. Come and enjoy what locals already know is a great diner! Also a great place to get Breakfast before the Ohio State games, and be prepared to give a big "O" "H" "I" "O".
Yup, over-rated.. I have to agree with the previous reviewer - the food at Tommy's Diner really isn't anything spectacular at all. My gyro & feta omelet was tasty, but the side of bacon was cold, and as tough as old boots. Husband's big breakfast was fine but no better than that at Chef's House (Hilliard) where we usually go for Sunday breakfast. Very good coffee though. The booths are fine for 2 people, but large groups are going to have problems. And it is INCREDIBLY noisy. The service was perfunctory, and nothing more. I'm glad we checked it out, but I can't see us going back. Oh, and how anyone could consider this place 'romantic' is beyond me...
