gay bars in Columbus. From DiMarcos on GoDown and Polos to Traditions and Pockets (Brewskys) and Worst all of these bars are listed as Gay Bars. Straights are not welcome. Gays in Columbus, contrary to what you are being told, are not tolerant of us. If you are straight then you will need to find another part of town to find entertainment.
A sports bar where you can watch a game undisturbed--or be social instead..
The Scene
Pockets boasts brick-and-wood-paneling walls, a steel-girder ceiling, two bars and dim lighting. In the bar's two game-watching rooms, serious sports fans can find what passes for peace and quiet in a bar. It does get loud, but usually not until the games are over.
The Games
Pockets has nearly 30 TVs (six of them with absolutely huge screens) that air every game imaginable. The bar doesn't usually have a cover charge, but when it screens pay-per-view boxing title fights, there's a $5-$10 cover at the door.
Participant Sports
Pockets features pool tables, air hockey, pop-a-shot, darts, and race car, golf and sports trivia video games. The bar also sponsors multiple softball teams, which show up after games to drink and rehash the day's victories.
Pick-Up Factor
Pockets is a guy's bar, but when women do show up, there's ogling aplenty. Ladies, you have the advantage: The ratio of men to women is roughly 4 to 1.
Relaxing atmosphere. Great place to hang out with friends or alone. Not a "pick-up" bar so you feel free to be yourself. Bartenders are great-- Ask Kristen for one of her creations. Food portions are getting smaller and pretty pricey but the laid back atmosphere makes up for it.
Great service. Great service, the two ladies that work the weekend nights knew my whole party's drink order after the first round. They were always on top of things. Prices are ok, food is great and wide variety of beers. Fun crowd and they always have all the sporting events on the screens. Will be back soon.
Small, nice sports bar. From the outside, it looks quite small. Inside though is spacious enough for pool tables, etc. Plenty of big screens for the Sunday games. Staff is also quite friendly.
Rude and Crude. I have gone to Pockets multiple times and it has always been a disaster. On several occasions, I have gone with my friends and the cook decided not to come to work, so we could not order food. The beer is always overpriced, and half the time they get my order wrong, or I get a watered down "Pepsi and Coke" treat. During "Happy Hour", my friends and I were talked into half priced appetizers by our waitress. We agreed, and after eating we were informed that she had made a mistake and that the appetizers were no longer half off and the manager (Who refused to speak to us) refused to give our bill the discount that his waitress promised. In all, the service is unreliable, the ownership intolerable and the "pig troth" urinal bathroom unbearable. I don't suggest Pockets for much, if anything at all.
Laid back pool bar. Nice laid back sports bar with large screen tv and lots of pool tables and cheap drinks
