Best so far. My first visit here was a gift from my g/f last year and it was amazing! The multi-coursed meal was beyond terrific. Every item from the iceberg salad starter to the rich chocolate dessert to end it was delicious! If I could afford $100 a day to eat there, I would. Nonetheless, I hope to visit this place many more times to come!
Charred Park Grille. Hyde Park was recommended repeatedly to me, so on 2 special occasions I checked it out. The service was absolutely superb. They have great salads, bread rolls. I was, however, dissapointed with the steak. All 4 of us had completely charred steaks, even when ordered medium rare and butterflied. The steaks all lacked some taste. I may try a third time, but if its no better... there will not be a 4th. If you like charred steaks this is the place for you.
The best in town. This is hands down the best steak place in town. It was the first steakhouse I visited when I moved to Colubmus with my parents and 20 years later it is still my number one choice. Ruth's Chris, Mitchell's and Morton's can't hold a candle to Hyde Park. I reccommend it to everyone and it is always my first choice for fine dining in Columbus. The steaks are incredible, sauces and toppings fantastic and their sides are great. The wine list is excellent too. You simply can't go wrong here!!!
The standard to which others strive.... This is truly one of the best Steak houses in the US (not just Columbus, OH). This is a steak house that the new, trendy, upscale, want-to-be-steak-houses come to learn lessons! They really go all out to make sure that the steak is the best to begin with and then go the extra mile to be sure that it is cooked to your specifications. They have a wonderful wine list, but last but not least, you must save room for the Creme Brulee! I wouldn't take young kids, but we take our oldest daughter since she was 8 year old and they are always very accommodating!
always wonderful. my husband and i aren't the richest people, but when we have the money or a special occasion we go straight to hyde park. we love the food, service, attention to detail, and the dark romantic feel. i highly reccomend hyde park, and if you're lucky, you'll run into somebody famous!
Quality of steak.
I have had better steaks at Logan's Steakhouse.
The filet mignon that I ordered was not very tender at all. It was ordered medium-rare and was somewhat chewy.
A young woman was sitting at a table next to us and had also ordered a filet mignon, and also was complaining about the tenderness of her steak.
This was a 22nd anniversary dinner for the wife and me, and it was certainly memorable, but for the wrong reasons.
Although I complained to the management, there was almost no followup.
Greatest Steak Ever. After eating a steak here it is a crime to call what other places call steak. From now on Hyde Park serves steak everyone else serves dead cow meat.
the colonel. can be as comfortable as a corner bar or as formal as any place. With friends just fun and with clients very formal; a perfect mix, that keeps people coming back year after year.
These local upscale steak houses have loads more character and charm than the national chains..
The Scene
Dark and clubby with cocktail bars, this is where the over-30 crowd can feel at home. The dining rooms are comfortable, wooded and spiced with live jazz on the weekends. The bar area is cigar-friendly.
The Food
The steaks are done creatively with recipes garnered from Ohio sports celebs. Steak Rahal (as in Bobby) is a bacon-wrapped filet mignon with sweet Dijon hollandaise, run under the broiler to caramelize the top. OSU football coach John Cooper's signature steak is topped with roasted garlic cloves and mushrooms. The Browns' Bernie Kosar may lay claim to the house favorite--a big fillet topped with lobster meat and served in bordelaise sauce. Side dishes go way beyond baked potatoes.
Chuck.
I made a reservation a week in advance and got a table for 2 next to the kitchen door. the only thing I could see was the wall. I probably should not have stayed.
Another time I dined here and a patron was letting their child run up and down the aisle next to our table. This was disruptive to our dining. I felt the manager should have asked the parents to correct their child. After these two incidents I have never returned. The prices are too high for this type of service.
