I am not a fan of this place. On two visits, I ordered my filet medium and in both case they came out rare. I had to send back and when they came out it was over cooked. There in no middle ground. Either it comes out raw or it comes out over cooked. Good place for people who like over cooked steaks.
Best In Columbus. My husband and I have been to the Hyde Park almost every weekend for over a year, and the food, the staff and the atmosphere are all tops. The Steak Griffin with the Cabernet Shallot Butter and the Pretzel Bread alone make the experience worth while. Not to mention the biggest and best piece of Chocolate cake you have ever had. The Manager Scott and Chad are wonderful and if your go request Lincoln or Chris as your serves for the evening...They are the BEST!!!
Avoid Friday nights, actually just avoid it. My boyfriend and I were visiting Columbus and two locals recommended Hyde Park as they best place in town for steak. We went on Friday around 6pm and the host sat us right next to the bar which was absolutely packed with men, you can figure it out. I don't have a problem with homosexuals at all. However watching men hug and kiss for and hour during our date was less than romantic. I ordered a margarita that tasted like straight tequilla, yuck. My boyfriend ordered his steak medium and it came to us completely brown throughout. I ordered the Steak Griffin and it was not edible. There was so much peppercorn on the dish you couldn't taste the steak itself. Their au gratin potatoes were amazing as were the salads and service. In the end our meal was comped. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a delicious meal or a romantic atmosphere.
Hyde Park - Crossroads.
On 12/15 we hosted a group of 8 to the Hyde Park on High Street / Cross Roads Area. The service left a lot to be desired. The waitress continously reminded us how "good" everything was. Be carefull for the appitizer sampler. Waitress suggested one for the table and continued to charge each couple $35 for the sampler. Prior to ordering I told the waitress I would prefer another appitizer and made it seem as if it was not an option. Not a fan of shellfish I was out my desired appitizer and $35. It must have been the waitress special of the night. Steak was cooked to order, but seasoned inconsistently, still very good. Creamed spinich was soupy and not real creamy.
Atmosphere was very classy, later dinner hours were a bit loud and tables were close together. Non the less a good steakhouse atmosphere.
Service leaves a lot of room for improvement, food was below expectations for a high end steak house.
Great Atmosphere. I loved the deco in the restaurant. The atmosphere was fantastic. I felt like I was at a swanky restaurant in New York city.
Their best steak was horrible. We wanted to have a nice evening with a geat food - result my steak was burned even though I ordered it medium I berely eat it. I heard a lot of good things about this restaurant but it is overpriced and I wasn't lucky with my food in that place!
Terrific food, service and great live jazz!. Wondeful! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the Henderson rd. location. It was our first visit there. We just finished off what was left of his huge steak with some eggs for breakfast! The atmosphere was terrific, service top notch. Lovely resteraunt and delish food; will definelty return again, if nothing else for the live jazz.
WOW.
I went to the high street location with my girlfriend for my 25th birthday few days ago. The place was great, real classy, service was good, our server was real friendly and accomodating, although her friend was snobby, but most importantly, the steak was AWESOME!!!! i had the ribeye, and my goodness, never had one like that before, and i've been to some of the finest steakhouses. After dinner ended, they remembered that it was my birthday, eventhough my gf told me that she booked the place 3 weeks in advance, and brought us some pie which was sweet and delicious FOR FREE...to sum it up: it was a deligthful dining experience and i'll definitely come back for lots more!!!
WARNING: their steaks come charred no matter how you order them (rare, medium, etc) which is quite the norm at fine steakhouses, so if you don't like them charred, you might want to tell them in advance. and try their sauce toppings...the citrus sauce was great..but my favorite is to make the steak OSCAR STYLE...topped with crab meats, asparagus and bearnaise sauce... yumm..
High St. restaurant not worth it. While in town, my husband and I took my parents to the Hyde Park on High St. The reservation was for a table by the window and a birthday. In a virtually empty dining room, we were seated in the back. The steaks came out charred (ordered rare & med rare) and the waiter was arrogant - interrupting conversation, talking right over us. No mention was made of the birthday. We've been to the Henderson Road restaurant and it was wonderful...don't know what went wrong here.
Very nice. Been there twice.....Both times the food was excellent, service was outstanding. Times to avoid are weekend nites, and prom time....Also, if you drive a Mercedes, Lamborghini, Ferrari, BMW, or any Escalade with 24's you get to park right next to the door in a no parking section and no one says anything to you!
