The Setting
Performances are staged at the 248-seat Studio One Theatre and the 157-seat Studio Two Theatre at the Riffe Center in downtown Columbus, where CATCO headquarters is located.
Performances
The plays CATCO performances are diverse, smart and sometimes have a social-issue theme. During the 1999-2000 season, CATCO performed such plays as "The Last Night of Ballyhoo" and "Tales From the Grave" and held a Shorts Festival, with 10 one-acts written by local and regional playwrights. CATCO's all-time best-selling comedy is the holiday classic, "A Tuna Christmas." The farce has only two characters, and the quick costume changes are as hilarious as the action.
Commitment to Diversity
CATCO produces at least one play every year written by a black playwright. Last year's was Lorraine Hansberry's excellent "A Raisin in the Sun"; this season's is Charles Fuller's "A Soldier's Play," winner of the 1982 Pulitzer Prize.
