Words can't describe how AMAZING this place is :) I like to drink and I've sure been to my share of bars but NONE like The Main Bar. The service was incredible and the food was second to none. Great prices...great drinks and great people. We can't wait to go back again!!!! We haven't stopping thinking about it or the amazing friends that we made there. Everyone needs to try this place...the only thing that will ruin your night is when it's time leave :) LOVE LOVE LOVE The Main Bar!!!!!!
Friendliest bar in Columbus! – Eight of us went to Columbus for the EasyRider bike show last weekend and stayed at the Westin (very nice) and right across the street is the Main Bar. We had walked blocks and went in several other bars and not felt at home... that is until we walked in to the Main Bar! It was like walking into our local pub at home! The bartender and owner were both so friendly and we were immediately comfortable and spent the rest of the evening there. They also have a nice heated back patio for smoking! In the words of Toby Keith " I Love This Bar"!!
The best bar in town! – I'm actually sitting here on the patio with Jim (the owner) and Kristin ( the cutes and sweetest bartender in town)! Writing from my blackberry. You must check this place out!! We are visiting Columbus and by far the best place we've encountered. A friendly staff makes for an incredible time. The bar drinks are also "friendly" to the body, mind, and wallet! If you're in town make sure to check it out! 16W Main Street. Check it out! You won't be sorry!!
"The Neighborhood Bar That Lost It's Neighborhood – I was in Columbus this past weekend for a family wedding, and after spending time with family was going to the Westin Bar, but wanted to check on my rental car. I'd parked caddy corner to the Westin at a self pay lot for $3/day (no in/out) vs. $20 at the Westin. I happened to notice a mural on the side of a building with some animals toasting and a banner saying "Good food and Drink". Right above it was a Bail Bonds sign! Trecking across the under construction main street to the Bar, I thought it might be a bit rough. The building literally stood by itself on the block, and it turns out the place was an oasis.
I walked in around 10:15 and left about 2 hours later with new friends Jim (who owns the place) and Dave, who was tending bar Sat night. The beers were nice and cold, the sports banter fun and friendly, and "the pours" were outstanding! I had so much fun, that after learning they had the Sunday Ticket, decided I would return for a few hours of NFL on Sunday.
I wasn't at all disappointed, as Kristen, Sunday's bartender made me feel right at home. In addition to being the cuter bartender (sorry Dave!) Kristen's friendly demeanor brightened up my afternoon. My fellow Giants fans enjoyed a great afternoon, and I was off to the wedding. Next time I get back to Columbus, I'll be sure to return.
Make your way to the Main Bar. You'll make friends, share some laughs and be glad you went. Don't forget to tip the bartenders well!
Friendly Awesome Bar – if you are ever stuck in downtown Columbus, make your way to Main Bar. Super friendly bartenders, extensive jukebox and outdoor smoking patio. The people that run this place make sure you have a good time! Should I ever be in downtown Columbus again - I will definitely make my way back here.
Great "Local" – Visting for business and the Ohio State game I ended up staying up on South High at the Westin. After checking in on Thursday night and after being thoroughly turned off by the Westin hotel bar/restaurant, I went walk-about on High street. Nothing to the left of High, nothing on the right. A beacon shined bright in the distance: A standalone building and a small bar tucked underneath the sign for "Castle Bail Bonds". Ahead of me walking in were some suits, some folks walking off the construction site next door, and what looked like some college kids. It looked like my kind of place from the start. Talk about a friendly place. I think I had my first beer on the deck before I even said hello. The bartender Kristin (with an "i") was a sweet, down-to-earth, funny, and hard-working bartender (did I say cute too). She made sure everyone was getting what they needed and were having a good time. "Syracuse" Jimmy, the owner, calls it a "neighborhood bar with no neighborhood" and he's right on. It's one of the best "locals" I've ever wandered into, everyone in the place was smiling, and Jimmy makes sure of that! The other patrons were extremely friendly and interesting, the juke was playing some great stuff, the "No Better Burger" was phenomenal, and I ended up staying longer than I had expected. All in all, a great local bar with some of the best people I met while in Columbus. Walk in with an open mind and you'll be rewarded with a great experience.
Good honest friendly place – As a Brit that has to travel the world alot this place is like home from home ; good music in the jukebox ,good beer and good company. The staff are great and the locals friendly they never forget a face/name or what your tipple is . This place became my local bar to chill out after work and have a laugth while in town . Thanks to Megan and Fish the bar staff for looking after me ,keep up the the good work and hope to see you again in the future .
"Where Somebody Knows Your Name" – That's what the folks at the Main Bar pride themselves on- getting to know their customers. Afterall, it's what keeps them coming back. This small downtown Columbus bar is reminiscent of downtown bars you may visit in even larger cities like New York and Chicago. With various types of liquor stocked from one wall of the bar to the other and a vast selection of domestic beers, this mom and pop joint always knows what its customers like. Although you may feel like a bit of an outsider at first among all the regulars, they are fun, quick to warm up to a new face, and will be sure to remember you upon your return. A good juke box and friendly atmosphere make this bar a great place to unwind.
Great for a Hole in the Wall – The Main Bar is smoky, cheap, and has a fun juke box. The bartenders do a great job, and never forget a face! This is a great place to go when you want to have a cheap drink at a total dive!
