THE Ping-Pong Bar.
This place is funny/nice. Lawyers, judges, yuppies, students, Monday-Night-Riders, drunks, street-folk... Sandals, and stilettos. It's home-y, friendly, aloof, - sometimes rude... So far, not seen
to be particularly dangerous. Crazy crowded - or (occasionally) almost dead. Decent mix of draft beer. Reasonable prices. The food is so-so-to-good. Multi-TV's are showing whatever's going on with sports. The staff can be your best friend, or distant/"spacey/etc."... Depends on who's behind the bar. Monday night "free pizza" is their famous claim to fame.
Oh. Except the ping-pong table. Unfortunately, as far is known, H-B the ONLY happening place in town with a ping-pong table. Set waaay in the back, you gotta make your way back to the center of it all. Lighting's bright; space is cramped, but adequate (having to often stop play, and share energy with focusing pool players, who's projecting butts get in the way... grrrr.) The orientation of the table keeps chasing balls very far to a minimum, thankfully.
Inevitably, the "best" ping-players in town - frat boys, ringers, date-night lovers, and the nationally-ranked - hopefully find this place. And, there is where the special action is. It's fun, fierce, ferocious - hopefully usually (shake-hands, if not pencil-grip) friendly - and the spinny/slammy truth.
If you're into ping-pong, at least, come check it out.
btw - The amplified music is various, and often great: classic R&R, R&B, blues and reggae.
The street-side patio is a sweet , gritty place to chill.

Very cool bar. I've been here early in the evening and late. Everything is different depending on the time, but one thing is consistent, they pad the tab! Be careful giving them your credit card too. Do not trust the help…
Great tavern - good food. Great pub, good lunch, great staff except for happy hour. Great pizza, so-so bbq. Good lunch specials
Great Atmosphere. On our first visit we were really impressed. Loved the small neighborhood bar atmosphere. Will definitely visit again when in the downtown area. Bar tender was friendly and the service was quick. Great place for lunch.…
A Classic Bar. This is an old school bar. Stop in there more than once in a reasonable amount of time and they will remember you and make you feel like you've been there 1000's of times! It's not going to be the service of a TGIF or some corporate bar but it's personal service in a very chill atmosphere. If you're in a hurry it may not be the place to go. If you are looking to hang out, have a few drinks and some good food then this is the place! Almost forgot to mention that the drinks are cheaper than just about every other place in town!…
