Pasqualone's LaPLaia the best in Italian. Our family has been going to LaPlaia for years. It is by far our favorite Italian restaurant anywhere. The sauce is incomparable. There is always an interesting variety of offerings but it's difficult to pass up the Chicken Parmesan, our personal favorite. The restaurant is intimate and the owner treats us like family, always warm and welcoming. The staff is always courteous. I think this is one of Columbus' lesser known treasures. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.…
True Italian food. I am a frequent guest at Pasqualone's. The food is better than it has ever been. I try a different dish every visit, as always I walk away with a pleasant experience. They have recently remodeled ( Love the new look). The staff is very courteous. I highley recommend this TRUE ITALIAN restaurant .…
Service and Food Quality Has Declined. My husband and I have gone there for 5 years. Friends recently had a bad experience--we thought they were crazy and found out they were right. Food quality has declined--Carfagna's is better. One waiter needs to go back to Manners 100 class. Server spent as little as possible time with us. never checked to see how food was or if we needed anything. Rude when we asked him to repeat the specials. Others must feel the same way---restaurant was vacant. Overpriced for what you get. Go to Mac Dona'lds and you will get better customer service. Go to Olive Garden for better food.…
Unrivaled Food and Service. I had heard about this place for years. My wife and I have traveled to Italy a few times and are very picky when it comes to Italian food. I finally made a reservation last weekend. It is unbelievable that this type of quality could be found in a strip mall close to a bowling alley. I was greeted at the front door by the server. He escorted us to our table. The restaurant is quite small. A large colorful mural depicting the owner’s village decorated one wall. The opposite wall was lined with mirrors and hanging candles. The server spent a considerable amount of time going over the specials. His enthusiasm and passion were contagious. We started off with dirty martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives and an antipasto plate. The mixture of meats, cheeses, tomato and olives were unbelievable. The bread was the perfect combination of crispy crust and soft chewy center. The next course was a very simple salad of mixed greens, and tomato with lemon juice and olive oil. We ordered a wonderful bottle of Amarone. The server decanted the bottle using an aerator that I had never seen before. The pace of the meal was slow and leisurely, the way that we like it. The server informed us, when we sat down, that the table was ours for the evening. I ordered lamb chops and my wife ordered Veal Saltimbocca. The lamb was perfectly prepared. A nice pan seared crust on the outside and a beautiful medium rare in the center. It was served with a side of White Truffle Campanelle and cheese. It was exquisite. My wife was equally pleased with her veal. The cutlet was topped with a razor thin slice of Prosciutto di Parma and a slice of melted provolone. The sauce was complex and perfectly layered. The clean taste of the veal reduction coupled with sage butter and white wine was divine. We were convinced we were too full for dessert, but after hearing the server artfully describe the selection, we decided to share a refreshing lemon sorbetto. The perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. The owner and his wife stopped by our table at the end of the evening to chat with us. Upon hearing that it was our first time, the owner’s wife, Lori, poured us two complimentary shots of some delicious lemon digestif. I cannot wait to return.…
I don't get ANY of the positive reviews.. Went there as part of a party of 8 for a Sat night 8pm reservation. First upon walking in the carpet is old, dungy and horrible - the carpet condition alone I would have walked out on, but our group was already there. This place is REALLY small - it has a fish tank going down the middle but they can't handle a group of 8 as my seat was backed into the seat of someone sitting at another table. The waiter knew the menu inside and out, but he literally kept saying over and over "making this food takes a long time, you will have a long wait, there are 2 tables with orders ahead of you (what is this, fast food). It was loooong times before he came back to check on drinks for that 'long wait' for the food. The place was only half full, no excuse to have to wait that long for the food (about an hour). It wasn't that great considering for the average price (ours was $80 for me and my gf) I can name 200 places that are better in Columbus. You don't keep telling customers they are going to have a long wait, there's no excuse for it when other restaurants are better and do it in half the time - unless we were wating for the tomato plants to grow). Also, the waiter just brought our table 1 bill - never asked if we wanted separate - who does that ?! Inside place was old and dungy. When we got our food there was not another customer in the place - so how did everyone else get their food, desert AND leave and we had just gotten our main course ? I would not go back.…
