What People Are Saying About Clarmont Restaurant

In Short – The location of many a power breakfast for downtown attorneys and state politicians, the Clarmont's decor gets an occasional update, but the feel remains dark and clubby. The hard-to-beat service comes courtesy of a waitstaff that has signed on for life and concentrates on the customers' needs. A steakhouse in the old style--with highballs, cigars and red meat--the Clarmont's kitchen doesn't mess with the classics; steaks, chops and seafood are done skillfully, but simply.
A classic

Been there 6 times...always a pleasure. Great food, great ambience (live piano), great service. All seafood and steak dinners are wonderful, and the chef(s) know how to cook your steak too. Nothing bad to say...just a great place. This Columbus icon is one of my most favorite resturants on the planet.
- Pros: menu selection, the great food, unique menu items
- Cons: parking
Pie to die for!
by tignhan
The Clarmont has the best Banana Cream and Coconut Cream pie in the city. Rich, creamy, and fluffy with real whipping cream on top. The only bad part is you can't order ahead and pick it up, you have to wait in the bar so you come out stinking of smoke.
- Pros: Pie, Lobster Bisque, Ambience
- Cons: , Crowded
Tried and True

The Clarmont has been my favorite restaurant since the 70's. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal there. Yes, it can sometimes be smokey and sometimes loud, but the quality of the food and the good service always make up for those short comings. While there are other places in town to get a good steak, there is nowhere else in town that you will get better shrimp cocktail than at the Clarmont. The shrimp is huge, crisp, fresh, cold and delicious.
- Pros: value for the price, steak quality, excellent seafood
- Cons: , small
