Tips for Martini Modern Italian

I ate too much!!. I had the best time at Martini last week....I loved our server first of all, he was professional but didnt act stuffy like other fine dining servers can seem. The food was so good I thought I was going to have to get rolled out. I had the pizzetta for an appetizer, it was enough to share and take some home! My boyfriend and I shared the chicken carbonara (my favorite so far....) and the osso bucco, mouthwatering! Also, I think at least 4 different people said bye to us on the way out. Needless to say, I'll be back soon.

Classy, delicious and super customer service. I was back in Columbus, OH over the weekend and had a chance to go to Martini's downtown for dinner with my son and a good friend. This was my first experience at this particular Cameron Mitchell restaurant and I must say it was a wonderful experience. If parking is an issue for you, use their valet parking, it's only $5 and made coming and going easy. The wait staff was wonderful, we had a reservation and were seated immediately. We told them that we had tickets for a play and therefore were limited on our time for dinner and they were extremely accommodating. To start off the French Martini was out of this world...had to have 2! The Spinach and Pear Salad was delicious and could have been a meal in itself. Everything we ordered was done to perfection and we had a leisurely meal and were out in plenty of time for our play. I will definitely make Martinis a stop every time we go back to visit in Columbus.

Martinis=Great, Food= Terrible. I've been to Martini's about 4 or 5 times over the past several years hoping that I was just ordering the wrong dish. No such luck. The entrees lack flavor and originality, the service is so-so, but I can say that the martinis are marvelous and filled to the brim. I would reccomend this place for drinks, and drinks alone.

It's a restaurant for the neighborhood. I came to this site to grab the number to make a reservation at one of my favorite restaurants in the short north -Martinis. I was disappointed by some of the reviews on several points. One, I was highly suspicious at the hype used to recommend other restaurants while reviewing Martinis...could this be someone with an interest in the restaurant recommended? Seemed like too much effort was made to downplay Martinis while playing up Hyde Park or other restaurants in the area. Another, the service is almost always exceptional and when it isn't there always seems to be a large convention in town. To be fair, the space in which the wait staff and cooks have to work is very small and when the bar/restaurant overflows with out-of-towners all demanding high class service -something is bound to go wrong. I've had a few fraustrating moments there myself...though, again, I've not blamed them on the wait staff. I LIVE in the neighborhood and before the neighborhood became the 'in' place to be, parking wasn't a problem. Those complaining of parking, go to Easton or another yuppy haven. We like our neighborhood the way it is...and the snobbier spoken of in one of the reviews comes not from us, but from those visiting. So, if you drive into the neighborhood or fly in for a convention, remember that you are visiting. Please be polite and patient and always remember...those of you that are doing so are at fault for creating the loud, snobbish environment and a stressed out wait staff. Make a reservation, enjoy a drink at the bar if your table isn't ready and enjoy the rapidly expanding, quirky and fun Short North.

Overrated. After making reservations we still had to wait 25 minutes to be seated, and were only seated after I complained to the staff that it is not very professional to allow individuals who have made reservations wait approximately 30 minutes after their reserved time to be seated. The food was completely overrated, and over priced. It was hard to carry a conversation because of the loud atmosphere. You would think for the price the atmosphere would be more reserved. Not recommended at all.

Outstanding dining experience. I travel for work and eat in restaurants all over the country. This was one of the best meals I've ever had. I normally don't go for the 'run-of-the-mill' fare, but was craving lasagna. It was without question the best I've ever had. Salad was great, bruschetta was outstanding, and the Finlandia Pineapple Martini... heavenly. The hostess very patiently navigated me through the one-way streets, closed roads, and construction of downtown Columbus until I arrived at the restaurant. The waiter was very attentive, but not hovering over the table. Reasonably priced - $60 got me an appetizer, salad, entree, dessert and 2 martinis - enough for me to make 2 meals. I cannot wait until my work sends me back to Columbus to enjoy their food again!

This eatery and gathering place makes a big dent in the myth that no one will come downtown for a good time.. In Short
Prepare to encounter Columbus' trendiest when you dine at Martini's. Fashionable types, like TV news anchors, swarm the bar ordering martinis with unorthodox ingredients. Enjoy the view of the avant-guarde Columbus Convention Center across the street, designed by Peter Eisenman. Pizzas include one version with prosciutto, fontina and caramelized onion, smeared with creamy mascarpone. The grilled Gorgonzola polenta is topped with wild mushroom ragout.

Posing as a good restaurant. Their steak was so good at Martini's that they had to take it off of my bill because it was so undercooked it was raw....and I ordered it medium. Besides it was full of fake pretentious types when don't make enough money or have enough notoriety to behave without snobbery. I'd go someplace like Hyde Park, Lindey's or Bon Vie.
