The Scene
If you're sporting the latest apparel by Versace or some Oakley eyewear, you'll look like a fixture in the showroom of this perpetually slick veteran store. The family-owned business has been open for more than 30 years, but the look of its goods has always lived in the 21st century. In 2001, Functional Furnishings opened its second location in 2001.
The Goods
You can find furnishings and decorative touches for every room in the house here. While the items come from contemporary designers from all over the world, many of the beds, bureaus and barstools share the same sleek lines and nouveau-retro vibe; old '50s styles--like kidney bean-shaped tables--have been ushered into the Jetsons era. Basic black is easy to find, but couches, trashcans and chaises also come in a variety of bright gumball colors.
