Best Chinese Food Eva. im from the springfield area and was in cloumbus today and happen to stumble into this restaurant and was plesantly surprised. Americans need to take note of how to treat customers and how to offer a quality product at a reasonable price.

Simply Fantastic.. I saw the reviews for this place and thought I'd give it a try. I didn't think there was any way it could be as good as everyone said (shouldn't there be at least one negative review, I thought), but no, it really is that good.

The food is spectacular - I won't bother to try to describe it in words because I won't be able to do it justice, but they have no less than three menus and everything under the sun - the restaraunt is called "Hometown Oriental..." for a reason, they have a lot more than just Chinese food. They're happy to prepare it to your preference, to any level of spiciness, with or without some ingredient, etc, but I've found it's best to just get it the way they recommend, they know what they're doing.

But even better than the food is the service. The owners/operators are SO nice, and they know more about food than anyone I've ever met - if you don't know what you want or are overwhelmed by the menus, ask for suggestions, they'll be able to pick out something perfect. They remember you if you've been there before, ask how you're doing, and the last time I went in to get some food to go, the woman who took my order brought me a cup of tea to drink while I waited. I didn't know you could get such good treatment from a business any more.

I can't recommend this place highly enough. If it's in your area, just try it once, you'll be hooked.

Best tasting authentic Chinese food I've ever had. Don't be fooled when walking into this place. It certainly doesn't look like one of the finest eating establishments in Columbus. From the mis-matched place settings to the roasted ducks hanging behind the deli counter, you might be tempted to go next door to Baja Fresh. However, once you get to know the family owners, you'll come to realize that the decor and ambiance is a perfect reflection of the family's quirkiness and eccentricity.

The food at Hometown Oriental is unparalleled. I've tried many unique and unusual dishes there, and have never come away disappointed. A word of advice: order from the blue menu, and don't hesitate to ask for suggestions. The food from the yellow menu, while delicious, is mostly the same stuff you can get just about anywhere.

The average entree might be a dollar or two more than the other cookie-cutter Chinese restaurants, but once you taste it, you'll understand. They use better ingredients, and probably pay their chef better than most. The extra cost easily comes through in the taste of the food.

Finally, this is a great place to take your kids. I have a 1 and 4 year old, and despite being picky eaters, they both love the food there.

So give this place a shot. You won't be sorry.

One of the best places for Chinese food in Columbus!. This place has a wide variety of authentic Chinese food, and the food is really great! This place is one of two Chinese resteraunts I would actually recommend in the city of Columbus.

The service is excellent too and the owner's make a point to remember their customers. It's also a great place to go if you have kids too as the owners make a point to ensure the little ones are as happy as possible.

Not much of an atmosphere, but it's definitely a must try if you like Chinese food!

Amusing owner, fantastic food. I ate lunch at this place today, and wow! Fantastic. And the lady running it was funny! She said, "Chinese cook have 35 year experience. Everything is good. Even the egg roll knock you socks off!" And she was right. Great service... and the food was absolutely delicious.

It's an unassuming looking place, and the food is a tad pricier than the usual little Chinese place, but it's definitely a cut above the rest and totally worth it. Everyone in my group was very pleased.

I signed up just now just to write this review. Do yourself a favor and go check it out!

You're like family when you eat at Hometown. This is such a quaint and lovely place to eat! What makes this establishment great is the attentive service you'll receive. They make you feel like you're eating with family - which is great! They are so warm and friendly. The food is also really good; the deli they have is like the ones you find in Chinatowns with roast duck and barbeque pork hanging on display to make your mouth water! They have a wide variety on their menu so you're sure to satisfy your appetite

charming manager and great food. The first time I ever stepped into this establishment I was greeted by such a nice and caring gentleman named Peter. He had a bubbling personality and the food was great as well. I really enjoyed the beef noodles and the hot and sour soup as well. They even had a small section for authentic chinese deli foods and desserts. The aesthetics are average but the food and prices are outstanding. I definitely would recommend it to anybody visiting Columbus.
