Best Salon in Town – I've been a customer at Gina's for about 20 years and have always been thrilled with the results. I've gone from short and funky to long and silky and everything in between, and the stylists at Gina's have always gotten it right.
Besides great cuts and color for ladies, they have barber services to keep your man looking top notch, as well.
The atmosphere is the icing on the cake at Gina's. It's decorated with an amazing collection of Rolling Stones memorabilia. And there is always great rock music playing.
The salon is clean, offeres a full range of services and products, and is always accomodating to your every need. Once you give them a try, you'll be back. There is a reason why so many people have been regulars at Gina's for years and years.
Best place for a haircut in town – I've been going to Gina's since I was a little kid. I'm 27 now so that's saying something.
There's no better place to go. The atmosphere is laid back and cool. The walls are plastered with rock and roll. The music is alright (if you're into classic rock like Gina is). And everyone there does a good job cutting hair. I'm a male so I go to Gina, my wife sees some of the other ladies there.
You can get top quality hair style without the pretentious vibe of some of the other salons. And it's right on Grandview Ave so you can do some other fun stuff while you're there.
LOVE it! – I've been going to Susie at Gina's for several years now. She is SO fun and outgoing! Plus, as a hairstylist, she's simply amazing. She's very thorough and pays attention to detail. Before going to Gina's, I bounced around from place to place (even tried the big, expensive chain salons) and couldn't find anyone who could do *exactly* what I wanted. They would come close, but... I was never really satisfied. Plus, the atmosphere in Gina's is so laid-back and cool, I immediately felt comfortable and not intimidated. Since coming to Gina's, I've been able to try a few fun new hairstyles with the confidence of knowing I always come out looking GREAT! :)
Great Place – I've been going to Gina's for quite a few months now, and I absolutely love it. The music is great, the staff are always friendly, and it's never too pricey. I'm very particular about my hair and every time I've gone in I've gotten exactly what I wanted. I would recommend this salon to anyone.
First and last time that I visit Gina's – I needed a last minute haircut a few weeks ago for a job interview and Gina's was around the corner from me so I decided to give them a shot since my regular barber was not available. Needless to say I regret going there. The place was dirty and the staff was just unprofessional. One talked so loud I couldn't even hear myself think and the staff was talking about things that I didn't think was appropriate to discuss in front of customers. Gina (aka Butterface) was the person cutting my hair and I don't know if she wasn't just not paying attention but she screwed up my haircut. I had to go to my interview looking like a idiot and then finally go to my regular barber to get it fixed, My regular barber said much could be done and that I had to get it cut short and then let if grow back for it to look right.
Great haircuts, fun place – If you live or work in the Tri-Village area, consider Gina's for your next haircut. Their great people give excellent haircuts, plus there is an entertaining Rolling Stones Memorabilia collection and good music in the background. It's definitely not my grandfather's barbershop ? still, he'd get a great shave and haircut.
Gina's been cutting my hair for years. I go back because she does an excellent job for a great price. Plus, I also like supporting a small business that I know will be there for years, and not some trendy, expensive chain with a revolving door of hair cutters.
In response to ms. single mama's comment. – Children are very welcome to come to our salon whether it be for a service, or to hang out with mom and dad while they're getting a haircut. But when a child's behavior becomes a big issue and is interfering with the clients and the stylists...it's time to take care of the problem. I asked ms. single mama to please settle down her son and I was told she would try. But the situation just got worse and worse...and the mother just sat there and did nothing to stop her son from repeatedly screaming, throwing things on the floor, and rolling around in the hair by her feet with no shoes or socks on.
An hour later when her haircut was finished, there was no apology to me or my staff about her son's behavior. And while I was telling her to please wait till her son was older before bringing him back to the salon, he was banging me on my legs.
I was very upset but admit I should have handled this better. I apologize to everyone who witnessed our conversation.
In Response to Previous Review by Single Mom – I just wanted to write in response to the single mom's post. I am the receptionist at Gina's. Children, of course, are more than welcome in our salon. We love and appreciate kids. Her child was not well behaved. Once the haircut started, her child was rolling all over the floor in our only walk way to get to the back of the salon. Gina then politely said something to the mother because she was concerned for him rolling around with no shoes or socks on where there was a bunch of hair. That didn't help. He dumped a full box of crayons on the floor (again in our only walkway) right behind the mother. She did not ask him to pick them up and just left them sit. Another stylist and I had to pick up the crayons at least 6 different times during the cut. Our salon is very small and the stylists around her had to constantly entertain her child or work around him in some way while cutting. We were very busy this particular Saturday and it was extremely hard on the stylists and myself to have to pick up after this child while the mother watched and did nothing. We were not frustrated with him, we were frustrated with the mother for failing to correct or acknowledge his behavior and putting it on the staff to entertain and pick up after him.
I did see her entire conversation with Gina. The intent was not to mortify or embarrass her. We just wanted her to see our point in we can't babysit and cut hair at the same time. People love our salon and come in for a relaxing experience. Their stylists having to stop every minute to stop the child from doing something is not relaxing. Gina responded in the best way possible despite the child hitting her in the leg and the mother doing nothing.
That day we had several other kids in. Absolutely not a problem. Any other kid I have seen in our salon will nicely sit in a waiting chair or sit quietely on their parent's lap during their service. I have never seen a child act like this in a salon. I apologize for your experience.
Children in salon – I am a stylist at Gina's and I would like to comment on the previous review...I was in the salon on Saturday while the 2 and a half year old child was running around like a maniac. He was spinning chairs, lying on our mats while we tried to cut hair around him, dumping his box of crayons all over the floor repeatedly as soon as OUR RECEPTIONIST was done picking them up, and was hitting Gina in the leg throughout the entire confrontation with his mother. We do allow children in the salon, but its the parents responsibility to decide whether they have a child who can handle sitting in a chair while the parent gets their hair cut. This is an unfortunate situation all around, but after enduring an hour of this child running and shouting through the shop, I think Gina did her best to be as tactful as possible when requesting that the child not return unsupervised.
Horrible, Incredibly Rude Salon Owner. – I have been going to Gina's for four years. I am now a single mother and needed to take my 2 and a half year old son because I could not find a sitter. I asked when I made my appointment and the staff said that would be no problem at all.
My son - considering his age - was actually fairly well behaved, no tantrums and he didn't break anything (phew). But he was running around gabbing and playing. Like any 2-year-old would. And when my cut was finished the owner of the salon - Gina - approached me in front of everyone in the salon and confronted me very rudely.
She went on and on about how disrespectful we (my son and I) had been to everyone in the salon. And she was actually raising her voice at me in front of everyone.
I understand that I should not have brought him but the way she treated me was beyond horrible. I will never be going back again. Ever. And I strongly encourage any mothers to boycott this business.
Needless to say I was a mess after leaving, completely mortified and shamed.
They should have a sign on the door saying no children allowed.
