Columbus >Jacob Neal Salon
Terrible Policies. Just got my haircut here for the first time and had a rude awakening when paying. Jacob himself does not allow clients to include a tip for their stylist on a credit card payment. Instead, I was instructed to an ATM across the street where I could get cash. So instead of making it easy on his clients, he makes it so that we have to do more work to be able to do the right thing. And why? Presumably because he does not want to pay the credit card processing fee. Shame... Jacob's greed means more work for his clients - and less tops for his staff. And he required a credit card to hold the first appointment - making sure he is taken care of even if his clients and stylists are not. All at a salon that touts itself as being high-end. I think not... and certainly won't be back.
Wonderful!!. Being relatively new to Columbus I have tried several salons. This is the first time I have gotten exactly what I wanted. Finally someone understood what I wanted. She offered sevreal suggestions too, which turned out better than I hoped! Hannah is great and is HIGHLY recommended.
I found my Drew!.
I recently had a scheduled appointment with Drew and showed up only to find out he had left. I begged the receptionist to tell me where he went, he wouldn't tell me.
After a week of hunting I was happy to find out that he is now working at Salon Lofts in the Short North.
If he's your hairdresser, you now know where he is. If he's not your hairdresser... he should be...go to him.
my hair has never looked better.
Jacob Neal Salon is yet another reason to love my wonderful Short North neighborhood. It's sophisticated inside and out. The staff was wonderful and my stylist, Drew, even more so.
I've heard it said that the difference between a great dress and the perfect dress is that when you wear a great dress people tell you that your dress looks great, but when you wear the perfect dress everyone tells you that *you* look great. My trip to Jacob Neal taught me that the same principle applies to haircuts.
Since Drew cut my hair, I've been told that I look great, beautiful, stunning, gorgeous, wow, etc more often than I'd probably get told that in a year. He found the perfect balance for a 28 year old woman. My cut is polished enough for someone who is tired of being mistaken for a 22 year old and young and fun enough for someone who is terrified of getting a mom haircut. On top of that he gave me a cut simple enough to fit my barely existent beauty regimen. That's no small feat! My haircut is amazing. And the color! God couldn't have done a better job (if he could have, he would have, right?) The color perfectly complements my skin tone and the highlights and low lights make it look like a I have a lighting crew with me at all times.
A trip to see Drew at Jacob Neal is well worth the investment. We all know how a bad hair day can ruin a day. The perfect hair cut and a great hair day can have just as big of an effect but in the opposite direction. And we could all use that, right?
Awesome Haircut/Color. I had my first cut/color with at Jacob Neal recently and I couldn't be happier with the service I received! The atmosphere of the salon was very welcoming, pretty, and clean (always appreciated!), and my stylist, Drew, was AMAZING. He sat me down and discussed not only what I wanted done to my hair, but made sure to ask about my lifestyle, how much maintenance I was comfortable with, and how I wore my hair on a daily basis. He gave me some great input and suggestions, was very sociable during the cut and color (lots of fun to talk to!) and the end result was awesome. I had been looking for a good salon since moving to Columbus from Cleveland, and after a few duds I'll definitely be visiting Drew at Jacob Neal again soon!
nice space and service. I love coming here - I have had nothing but good haircuts. They're honest with you about what looks good on you and what doesnt. It also has a nice but expensive home interior store attached.
rude owner. i used to be a loyal client to this salon, but i witnessed the owner (mr Neal Jacob) be EXTREMLY rude and unprofessional to a top stylist of his. he interuppted the service that stlylist was doing along with everyones on the floor that day. i will never go there again. Mr Neal has gotten to big for his britches. he needs to remember that the stylists are who make the salon. not him! OVERRATTED
Exceeded My Expectations!.
I recently set out on the impossible task of finding a new stylist in Columbus. I was referred to Drew at Jacob Neal Salon from a woman at the Mac counter at Nordstrom. Her hair was perfect for her age, coloring and personal look. I only could only hope to be so lucky. I called and spoke with a receptionist who was helpful and spoke highly of Drew as well.
I arrived on the day of my appointment to be greeted warmly and offered a glass of wine, which I accepted to calm my nerves. The salon was not what I expected; it?s industrial but not intimidating. Drew met me at the chair with an easy smile and immediately offered suggestions to improve the grown out mop that was my hair. He took in to consideration my personality (edgy/professional), time I have available for styling (none), where I would like to see my hair a year from now (longer) and we were off. After color, cut and a styling ?how-to? I was done. I looked younger and felt elated. I couldn?t help but hug Drew.
The style has been the easiest I?ve ever had and I get compliments everywhere I go. Drew suggested a few products to help ?us? get to our goal of longer hair, they smell wonderful and I really notice a difference in the way my hair feels. The price is slightly higher than what I have paid in the past, but you get what you pay for and this experience is worth every penny.
This salon is beautiful, they focus on the customer and Drew is nothing short of amazing!
Hands down best in town!. The Jacob Neal Salon, and especially Eddie who is at the director level, is awesome! You feel like you're in a hip urban salon in Chicago or NYC. Eddie is a fabulous hair stylist and I would highly recommend him if no matter if you're looking for an edgy cut or a conservative cut. He is extremely capable of doing it all very well! I desire an edgy (NOT trendy!) haircut, but also want to look my age (30s), and Eddie has created a very hip and unusual look for me without making me look like I'm trying to be 18. He's extraordinarily talented in achieving what you ask him to do, plus he's full of ideas. I constantly get stopped everywhere I go with people telling me they love my hair (my favorite comment was a woman who exclaimed my hair was hittin'!) Go see Eddie or any of the other talented hair stylists at Jacob Neal - you won't regret it. And remember, although their prices are high for Columbus (their prices are listed on their website), you DO get what you pay for. If you want more than just a trim, I'd highly recommend this salon. Plus, you can sip on wine or espresso while you're being worked on. It's fabulous! The Jacob Neal Salon kicks the **** out of Charles Penzone!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And I've tried 6 different stylists all at the director or sr. director level at Penzone's!)
It's a destination.
My spouse used to fly to Chicago or D. C. to get a good haircut; I saved the money and had my hair cut locally, but was never satisfied. After finding Jacob Neal, however, we need drive no more than 90 minutes to have cuts every bit as good as the best we found in Chicago. We organize weekends around our hair cuts, and have learned that Columbus has a lot to offer as a result. In fact, the stylists at Jacob Neal are great sources of tips for new and great restaurants!
Parking is poor, however. Avoid busy times if you at all can. (There is a pay lot nearby, so it could be worse.)
