Editorial Review for Nancy's Home Cooking – by Jim Ellison
The Scene
Neighbors and OSU students come for cheap eats and friendly conversation. The wall is covered with autographed photos of notables, especially Buckeye coaches and sports figures. There is no Nancy; this is Cindy King's place. She has been ladling out food and commentary for over 20 years. She asks her regulars about their lives, makes sure they've had enough to eat, and new or not, calls them "Honey."
The Food
Breakfast includes anything a short order grill can offer including a sausage sandwich and French toast. Everything comes from the same spot, so expect a bit of grease or a taste of another order with your dish. People come for the garbage omelets and home fries with sausage (giant chunks) gravy. There are also lunch and dinner choices as well as daily specials that often come with mashed potatoes and green beans.

The food isn't bad, but its not worth the trouble. No matter what time you go, expect to wait. Take it from someone who's actually lived behind this place, parking is pretty much nonexistent. Do not park in the lots behind Nancy's, you will be towed, it's for residents ONLY. For some reason, even the owners/employees of Nancy's would repeatedly ignore this, even after several friendly requests not to do so. That to me shows a high level of disrespect to the people of their community. If you're in the mood for driving in circles for 20 minutes trying to park for some slop on a paper plate - have at it.
Pros: they have food
Cons: nothing special

I was a little skeptical to try Nancy's, not because I thought the food wasn't good, but because it's always so busy. A bit of advice: try it in the summer when OSU is on break. Trust me, the food will be just as good and you won't have to wait or be hurried out. Monday and Thursday the special is chicken and noodles and the portions are more than you can eat.
Pros: Great service, Great food, Cheap
Cons: You might have to wait for a seat
