Evidence that Ohio is proud of more than biological hogs--it also loves the two-wheeled variety..
The Scene
The former Motorcycle Heritage Museum in Westerville is now the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in nearby Pickerington. In 1999, 5,000 motorcycle enthusiasts gathered to mark its
opening.
The Collection
The museum displays more than 100 motorcycles, many dating back to the 1920s. A 1924 Indian Big Chief greets cycle aficionados at the door. The army-green 1924 Harley-Davidson Class A Dirt-Tracker looks a little too primitive to ride, but the gray and black 1949 Manx Norton Daytona Racer seems inviting. Each of these bikes is in the Hall of Fame and clearly deserves the honor. Remember that many of the bikes built prior to 1970 reach speeds of up to 110 miles an hour, but came with little or no brakes. Willie G. Davidson, of Harley-Davidson fame, was inducted for his role in styling the famous hogs.…
