One of the area's newest golf courses is already one of its best.. Growth Industry


Other than orange barrels, few things in Central Ohio multiply as rapidly as golf courses because 28 facilities have been added since 1989. It's hard to be outstanding in such a field but for its combination of quality and affordability, Split Rock breaks par.





Green With Envy


Built in 1997, Split Rock rates highest for its putting surfaces and overall layout. On CentralOhioGolf.com, the greens scored 4.03 (out of five) and were ranked among the area's best. As for its designer, Dr. Michael Hurdzan was named Golf World's "1997 Architect of the Year."





Not Getting Older, Getting Better


One criticism of Split Rock is that the course is still immature. Roughs are a little too rough and the grass threadbare in some spots. However, even the critics assume it will become one of the area's best in time. For now, with its relatively low fees, Split Rock can settle for being one of the best buys.
