The Scene – The Orange Johnson house is the only home of its era standing on its original foundation in Franklin County. It was built in two sections: the first, in 1811 by Arora Buttles (the family for whom Buttles Avenue in the Short North was named), and the second by Orange Johnson in 1819. A local "hornsmith," Johnson carved eyeglass frames, buttons and combs out of animal horns (plastic wasn't invented yet).
