Well, we tried it....
We got lost and were hungry, saw the building and it looked busy from the outside, (which is usually a good sign that the food should be good, right?). We were seated literally at the door. My husband really resents this in resturants wanting to sit us directly at the door, when there are plenty of open places available that we could see. They weren't happy to be asked for another booth further in the resturant. We didn't even get to sit down before we were asked what we wanted to drink. If I were a regular, that would be fine, but we've never been there!
I should have followed the golden rule: if they ask you for a drink before reviewing the menu, run. This means that you HAVE to order from that point on or look like fools.
Gee not too many offerings. 3 hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, three seafoods (listed themselves as a 'seafood resturant'), no pasta offerings and about two bbq chicken and five steaks...that's it.
Watch ordering blu cheese here: it's good, infact I would hazzard to say, homemade, and they charge extra for it without telling you!
Bread machine bread comes out, iceberg lettuce salad with a large quarter tomato that wasn't ripe, and Chinese noodles on the salad (?). In defense, the steak I ordered was good. Tough, but good. The baked potato was 'eh' with artificial cream cheese with chives (seemed like IMHO cream cheese), steamed within an inch if it's life. Husband had the pulled pork BBQ. It was awful. The fries were not properly cooked (limp frozen 'steak fries"), the pork had some kind of bottled BBQ sauce that was doctored with liquid smoke.
$32.89. Was never asked by the waitress if we wanted anything during the meal, no refills on our pop, not even "how's your food?" We saw her to take the order and to lift the plates off the table. and wanted us to order desserts.
Look, I agree we are a bit picky, but really...a bbq house? The steak as I said, was fine, but tough. It really blew my mind that a resturant that goes out of its way to give cloth napkins, would have such poor service and on and off food. Won't go back, thanks.
Fake BBQ and revolting sauce..
BBQ Fanatic. Own my own smoker, and have done competition, and this is not true BBQ. I dont know hows its prepared, but its not smoked. The sauce is disgusting. Its a cocktail of overly sweet BBQ sauce, and tons of liquid smoke. Putrid. If you wipe away the sauce, it will reveal the tasteless gray meat. Disgusting. Go the extra mile to Smokey Bones, or even Logans Roadhouse for a MUCH better BBQ/steak meal
Also, the head bartender is a rude jerk.
BEST RIBS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Love this place. I would never eat ribs or steak for that matter anywhere else. This place has the best servers, the best bartenders, and the best food!!! Took some friends there and they drive here at least once a month to eat here. They won't go anywhere else for ribs or steak.. My best friend loves the smelt there and no place else. Thanks for being in town. Love you guys.
Great food fabulous price. Love the steak!!!!!!!The ribs are YUM!!!!!!!The service is outstanding!!!!!!!!!The location is o.k. This is by far one of the best places to eat in central Ohio!!!!!!!!!
Liquid Smoke-GAG. The first few bites of anything with the barbeque sauce are delicious, until a few moments later, when I am overwhelmed by the amount of liquid smoke which seems to permeate everything. Unfortunately, these ribs are not SMOKED, they are steamed then grilled, and the smoke flavor you taste is artificial and from a bottle, and it is way over done. Avoid this place and just go to City Barbeque or Hoggy's. You wont be burping liquid smoke for a week at those places.

Best food in Ohio!!!.
Hickory House in Reynoldsburg, Ohio is my favorite place to go.
The food is always the same. AWESOME!
The menu, drinks and service are also the greatest. It's easy to sum
Hickory House up in one word. AWESOME!
One of the other reasons my friends and I go there is that we can still smoke if we want.
It's one of the few areas left in Ohio where smokers are welcome.
It will be a sad day for all of us when the no smoking ban goes state wide.
My favorite for Ribs!!!. This is where I go when I want good ribs! In fact, I go to Hickory House for my birthday dinner every year, and a few times between b-days too. My family just loves the food, from my 74 yr old grandparents to my 4 yr old son. There's something for everyone- I love the ribs & shrimp, my husband loves the steak & the french onion soup is a favorite for the entire family. They serve a basic iceberg salad, but add chinese noodles instead of croutons for a twist. The fresh-baked bread is mouth watering, and the desserts are delicous! Great service, low lighting, good for a quiet night out, or a large gathering- they have room for all!!!! Hickory House is a must if you like ribs! Forget about Montgomery Inn in Cincy- it's not even close!!
Never disappointed. We first tried this place a year ago. Dont know why we waited so long...have been here no less than 10 times. ALWAYS the service is superb, and the steaks divine. The bread is the best in town...And the crab stuffed mushrooms are awesome. This place has never let me down. The only thing I have not cared for is their ceasar dressing. Too oily for me. Everything else is always great, but the service is tops.
Best In Columbus and Franklin County. Forget about all those high price places. This is the place for steaks and ribs. The top in FranklinCounty.
