Ohio's oldest state park has always been a popular vacation spot, offering plenty of water-related recreation..
Play in the Spray
The 3,300-acre lake allows unlimited horsepower and provides ample space for water skiing, jet skiing and kneeboarding. Even with the heavy water traffic, quiet regions exist for pontoons, sailboats, canoes and rowboats.
For the Birds
Buckeye Lake's shoreline offers excellent habitat for waterfowl, and many bird-watching opportunities exist.
Swim with the Fishes
Swimming areas are located at Fairfield Beach and at Brooks Park on the south side of the lake.
Grand Fish Railroad
In 1891, the "Buckeye Fish Car," a state-operated railroad car, transported crappie and bass from Lake Erie to stock Buckeye Lake. Fishermen today still enjoy fine catches of perch, bluegill, crappie, muskellunge, largemouth bass, channel catfish and bullhead.
