Editorial Review for Brazenhead Pub – by Terry Ward Libby
In Short
It took more than $1 million to re-create a real Irish pub in the heart of old Dublin. The furniture is handcrafted antique reproductions. Cozy fireplaces and intimate seating nooks (called snugs) afford customers a spot to share a drink and some privacy. The grub is above average--and perhaps more American-friendly than what you'd find in Ireland. The menu features beer-battered codfish, homemade potato crisps and meaty burgers. Seven brews on tap and many more in bottles are perfect accompaniment to slightly greasy food.

Insider Tips
When to GoSt. Patrick's Day is done up in style with the party starting a few days before March 17. Bagpipers, step dancers and live music keep the Irish eyes smiling.

Great ambiance with the snugs and the bars on multiple levels. When the weather is nice the patio is a great place to watch the world wander by. Parking can be a pain especially on Wed. since it's burger night ($3 for a great burger).
Pros: Laid-back, kind of an upscale hole in the wall. Great bartenders & Irish beer on tap.
Cons: parking can be a pain.

Though Brazenhead is WAY too lavish for a genuine Irish pub, the decor is nice, and the ambience relaxed. We've only been there for lunch, and have never had to wait for a table. The service can be a bit iffy - some of the young girls really don't seem terribly interested in taking care of the customers - drink orders are taken, then the server disappears for 10 mins, and there is sometimes quite a wait for food, even when the pub isn't busy. Still, I highly recommend their burger with garlic sauce - I always ask for extra sauce on the side to dip the home-made chips in. Delicious! Prices are a little higher than other places but, hey, that's Dublin for you.
Pros: Good food, Location, Beer selection
Cons: V. busy @ night, Parking, Iffy service
