Bad experience, nothing like the Cinci locations!. I want to start out by first saying that I have been a huge fan of the Montgomery Inn for many, many years in Cincinnati. In the summer I even purchased their sauce to barbecue with. When I travel to Cincinnati for business I typically entertain clients at the Boathouse and have never had a poor experience there.

That being said, I was very excited about the opening of a Montgomery Inn in Columbus. I made reservations to celebrate my wife's birthday back in the fall. Upon arriving, we were placed into the back of the restaurant that is used for overflow seating. It felt like a cheap golf course's club house. It was closed up and smelled musty and I constantly battled small flies/bugs that flew around me. Upon asking to move to another area, we were told about the overflow. I guess "reservations" mean nothing at this location.

I am guessing that because we were in the "overflow" area, this is the same reason we received very poor service. It took us 15 minutes to place a drink order, then another 10 for it to arrive. The waitress was not professional or courteous. I would expect to find this type of professionalism at a sports bar, not at the Montgomery Inn. Overall, the food tasted good, but the sour service and atmosphere left a terribly taste in our mouth.

I would highly recommend NOT wasting your time or money at this Montgomery Inn. Instead wait until you can make it to Cincinnati to eat the real thing. I for one have strongly discouraged my colleagues from visiting their with their clients. It is too bad, as I usually entertain clients out 3-4x a month.

Best restaurant in the Columbus area. I love the Montgomery inn. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service is impeccable and the food is cooked to perfection. I had the Caesar Salmon Salad and my husband had a Steak. There were no complaints. The bread is brought in fresh from an italian bakery. I would love to see them offer wheat rolls or a loaf of whole grain bread, as this is my preference.
