Better after a lot of work!.
***Update: After putting this on the restaurants facebook wall I got a call from the real owner who apologized and assured me that they do provide better customer service. I am very impressed he took the time to call. Now all they need is a new manager.
Here's a letter I wrote to the facebook page of this restaurant as there is no information on the owners anywhere. The manager claims to be the owner of the Westerville location and after reading this you will unerstand why I will never go there!
Hi I just wanted to write about my TERRIBLE experience at your Westerville location last night.
What should've been a quick comment about a price confusion on the menu turned into a complete nightmare of an experience. I will not visit another Jimmy V's because of it.
When my husband and I ordered out gyros the server asked if we would like chips, fries, onion rings or sweet potato fries with our meal. He did not mention there was an additional charge for this nor did it say on the menu what the gyro came with so I thought he was asking my choice because there was a choice with the meal. We ordered sweet potato fries and onion rings.
When the check came there was a charge for both of these items. When I asked the server about this he said that only chips were included with the gyros. I found this to be a very sneaky way of upcharging us. I told him that it was a bit confusing that he asked us what side we wanted and didn't tell us there was such a large up charge. He agreed that it was confusing.
As we were leaving I asked to speak with the manager. A man named Miles came and spoke with us. He informed me that I read the menu incorrectly and that it was my fault for not knowing about the additional charge. Furthermore he implied that the gyros are very affordable so I shouldn't complain about an additional charge. He claimed that the verbiage "chips are included but everything else is an additional amount was written on the menu", when it was not.
He made me feel as if I was being cheap and stupid for not reading the menu. He then asked me "What do you want me to do? Give you a gift certificate? Give you a discount?" This put me in an awkward position as I had to choose. When he returned with the gift certificate he said that his server said that he told us there was a "small" upcharge for the alternate gyro sides implying that I was lying. I can't believe he was telling me to my face that I was lying.
I thought this was the end of a terrible experience, but no it continues. I checked my bank account online and the amount charged was not the amount the check was for. I immediately called the restaurant back and spoke with Miles again. He couldn't quite figure out why my card had been charged for more than the amount that the receipt had shown it had gone through for. After several minutes on hold he told me that the banks charge 15% more to a card because they want to make sure there was money to pay for the check. I have NEVER had this happen in any other restaurant nor have I heard of this. I told Miles that I would follow up with my bank about this procedure and he said that the bank would lie and say that they don't do this.
The amount of the discrepancy on the check after the tip was $3.00. Miles said that I was really was still getting a deal because he gave me a $10 dollar gift certificate and that even with the $3.00 overage I was still making out. I told him that this wasn't the point. He said that if I wanted to drive back to the restaurant for the "measly" $3.00 I could. I could NOT BELIEVE he was speaking to me this way.
I will tell EVERY PERSON I know about this terrible experience. I will write reviews on citysearch, yelp, and any other review site I can find about this horrific experience. I have never been so degraded in my life and made to felt so little. I hope this reaches your owners and it never has to happen to anyone else ever again!
