Quaint Asian Market with Many Products.
CAM International Market, now located at Olentangy Plaza
889 Bethel Road has improved since the last review. It should be disregarded and the address updated.
But as for the store itself, it's a large Asian food market that has a very large selection, but presented in such a way that it looks like a very modern grocery. The store is divided up into several areas; produce, dry goods, kitchen goods, butcher, seafood, bakery, restaurant, deli and tea store.
Products come from Thailand, China, Japan, and Korea to name a few areas and at pretty reasonable prices.
Two areas of the store catch my attention. The first is the kitchen goods area. While a large portion is devoted to bulk rice, most of it is cutlery, pots and pans tabelware, rice cookers, and legume/nut milk makers. The prices of which are really reasonable as a lot of online store will have markups because of the novelty of the product and of course, shipping and handling.
The other area that catches my attention is the tea store. The awesome thing about this is you can buy bulk tea, loose leaf, cakes, and, even blossoms. And while a lot of people will rant about Teavana in Easton Town Center, CAM's prices per ounce are MUCH more reasonable. When the staff is present, they are happy to answer questions about specific teas. But if you are overwhelmed by these teas, CAM also has boxed teas, both loose leaf and bagged. Additionally there's lots of tea cups and pots if tea is your interest. And again, all reasonably priced.
And while I will admit the store has a particular odor, it generally is the result of Asian cuisine. It's not bad, but when you have products like Kimchi and Durian as well as many spices that Westerners are not familiar with, Westerners are bound to be struck by the unique smell of an Asian market.
