Upscale bar food at its best!. Recommended by my brother-in-law, my husband and I went to Surly Girl not knowing what to expect. Now we have a new favorite! I had the Veggie Melt, and it is quite possibly the best sandwich I have every had. And the crazy part is, no meat! You can add bacon though, which my husband did the last time we visited, that makes it "The Defiler". Thirst quenching drinks such as the cucumber vodka are a must try, and the best part is the reasonable prices! When I go Downtown/Short North to dine, I expect to pay more for sometimes nothing special. I would gladly pay more at Surly Girl for what it offers. Yummy food, juicy drinks, and a warm atmosphere!
GREAT BEER! Good crowd, but very loud. The ONLY negative would be the noise. Perhaps because of the tin ceiling, the noise reverberates to the point where it's difficult to have a conversation when the place is busy. I always wake up hoarse after being there. Strange review I know. However, the food is generally good (not as good as it's sister Betty's however.). Good mix of people, great staff.
Best Ribs.
I was visiting from Colorado and a friend insisted I see the Surly Girl. I went with little expectations except another Short North joint. I was amazed at the ribs cooked in cherries and coke. I asked to meet the manager and proposed that they consider mass marketing the product. She was flattered, but insisted that the goal was to provide the best food and service in the community. DONE...
My firend ate a marvelous pizza with dried cranberries and it was beyond description. Columbus you are lucky to have this restaurant and I would be an investor if they ever expanded to Colorado.
Maddi Gass
Great food,.
Never had a problem with any of the guys bartenders, always quick and good drinks. Some of the girls have a chip on their shoulder though. "A little too cool for their job." I have had ordered grey goose on the rocks and given well. I have waited an hour for food only to be told the kitchen lost my ticket. I have ordered food and been told that the kitchen will be mad and I should change order. I have waited 15 minutes at the bar before someone even acknowledged my presence.
BUT, the food is AMAZING!!!!!!!! GREAT jukebox!!!!!!!!!
