Horrible, Horrible
by NBend
We ordered two different salads. The mesquite grilled chicken was not actually grilled. It was cooked, covered in sugary b-b-cue sauce and dumped onto a pile of shredded iceburg lettuce. There were about 5 black beans, three pieces of corn and a couple of chips on it. All yours for about $10. Horrible...
- Pros: Nice enough service
- Cons: Horrible food.
Go for the margaritas, NOT for food.

I think the title says it all. Their margaritas are awesome. Go on Fridays and they are pretty cheap and absolutely delicious! I think the fruit flavors other than the original cost $0.50 more, but be careful with blended ones, some are too sweet. The service is decent and fairly fast. The restaurant smelled like feet the two times I have been there. Not sure if it was cheese or actual feet... I hope it was cheese. Either way, it doesn't smell pleasant and I hope they do something about it since I plan on going back for those margaritas.
They give you complementary chips... nothing special. Go with hot salsa instead of mild. Mild salsa taste like watered down catchup. The hot salsa is decent... I'm convinced that it's Pace salsa you get at a grocery store. But it's at least nice that they give you these to munch on while drinking.
Now on to food. They are salty, salty, salty and more salty. I've tried their white chile and each spoonful was like spoonful of salt. How bad is it that I had to add saltine crackers to dilute the saltiness of the chile! I have also tried their buffalo chicken wrap. Surprisingly, it was salty again. How can a buffalo chicken wrap be so salty? I got a chance to get a bite of hamburger also. It was actually not salty, but it was so obvious the meat came from a freezer. A whopper tastes better than that burger I tried at the Tumbleweed.
salty or not, the food in general is bad and of poor quality. The only reason I give two stars is because of their strong margaritas and happy hours.
Cheers,
- Pros: Good margaritas & happy hour deals on them
- Cons: funky smell, salty overpriced poor quality food
Poorest margarita in town. Chain restaurant past its prime.

It had been a few years since I had risked a trip to Tumbleweed. Always the hopeful sort, I thought perhaps Tumbleweed had done something to improve their offerings, especially considering the competition they have now, with all the new chains springing up everywhere. Turns out I was wrong. First, I was served the most atrociously bad "frozen" margarita I have ever had, anywhere. The consistency was only what I can describe as "suds" - it was a lot like quaffing a glass of tasteless foam. Why in the world does a restaurant serve a drink like that, and to keep serving it - I remembered that it was the same way years ago at Tumbleweed; at least they are consistent. The food at Tumbleweed can only be described as boring, boring, boring. They really can't decide if they are Tex-Mex, or American, or what, but they aren't very good at it, whatever it is. Chips were chewy and tasteless and salsa is awful, tastes like something right out of a can, tomato paste supreme. Service was prompt, but surly. Once I get a dose of surly-waiter, it's usually a long time before I come back. My advice is stay away, there are so many other great choices for Tex-Mex in the area.
- Pros: Might be OK for kids.
- Cons: Food, service, margaritas.
