Apathetic restaurant. Although the lighting was flattering, the service was non-existent and so were some of the ingredients in the alleged menu items. If you have a coupon, maybe...but even then I wouldn't waste my time on this place again (and it will take quite a bit of time).
food and service sucked beer was good. We sat at the bar and waited 10 minutes for the bar tender to come to us. It seemed like she was more interested in the other bartender hitting on her than waiting on customers. She did not get our order right and when it did come out a very long time later it did not taste very good. Would not go there to eat again but it is close to the arena so it is a good spot to grab a beer before or after the game.
A place to refuel before or after a Bluejackets game..
The Scene
Located across the street from Nationwide Arena, Red Star Tavern is a comfortable place to eat before or after an event. It has a spacious, wood-paneled dining room, as well as a big circular bar with multiple televisions and lighting cast from several red cylindrical lampshades suspended from the ceiling.
The Food
The extraordinarily attentive and professional service outshines the food, which is billed as "upscale diner" fare. Better to stick to basics, like the practical house salad, hamburger or skillet macaroni and cheese. Comfort foods like the pot roast and asparagus side dish, are fine, but on the salty side. The spicy tuna sushi roll appetizer is oddly warm and greasy. If you want to try something more daring here, opt for a cocktail. Multiple martinis are on the menu, like the tasty, raspberry currant "Midnight" and the sweet "Red Dawn" with Remy Red and Cointreau.
not satisfied. Overall from my dining experience, I will never eat at a Red Star ever again. My service was horrible and the resturaunt was not even busy, food did not come out in a timely manner, and to top it off, the server forgot to ring in my sandwich, which in return, when I finally did get the sandwich, it tasted disgusting as if they submerged the sandwich in salt. Honestly, I think that the price for the menu items are overpriced and are not appealing to me.
