Terrible Customer Service. I had a less then desireable experience at Bon Vie. The restaurant was extremely busy and the only option for seating was on the deck area. We were ok with the seating so long as there was a heating lamp nearby. There was a lamp but we could not get any employee to light it. Food was overcooked, I ordered a steak medium rare and it came out cold and well over cooked. I wrote to the managing partners on Bon Vie's website and never recieved a response. I will never return to any of the Bravo restaurants due this experience.
If you are a discriminating diner, his is the Best Place at Easton!.
Okay, it's a difficult statement to qualify when you have Smith & Wollensky across the fountain and McCormick & Schmick's down the street, but I have to give credit to BDI for putting this diamond in the rough at Easton. My wife and I get tired of the same old same old, and most especially the throngs of people flashing new money at S&W or M&S or stumbling over themselves to eat another Fett Alfredo or oversized sandwich at Brio or Cheesecake Factory.
As others have said Bon Vie has the best location and patio at Easton and the food is delicious. Be warned, I am French and the food is definitely NOT French, and I would be hard-pressed to admit it's French-influenced. The good news is they've fixed some of their typos on the menu and what they have is good food for anyone and have created an experience that is the closest approximation to what a sidewalk cafe or bistro would be in France! The servers are what keep my wife and I coming back, Chad and most of the other guys are stellar and remember you when you come, good luck finding that at any other restaurant at Easton, they have enough personality as to not be too stiff, but still remain professional - without a doubt the best staff of servers at Easton.
Great dining experience!. Awesome food and a very romantic setting! The outside terrace is one of the most coveted places to be in the summer at Easton. Bon Vie can be a quick stop for lunch with reasonable prices (around $10 including brunch items) or great evening out. The Brie fondue was excellent, the steaks are great, and recommend the fresh cut french fries! French Toast stuffed with cream cheese and pecans goes great with Mimosas at brunch! I will tell all my friends!
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. French-American cuisine served up in a turn-of-the-century Parisian bistro setting with daily specials, weekend brunch and banquet facilities.
Too Many Changes. I loved this restaurant about a year ago, but I have been back about 5 times - all with bad experiences - before deciding to stop trying. The menu has changed too many times, and the food has suffered for it. On our last visit we had to send back food twice for various issues. The manager came out and tried to convince us that we were wrong. Portions have gotten much, much smaller. Service is far less experienced than it used to be, and takes way too long to serve. Those fabulous frites they had? Long, thin, shoestring? Gone. Replaced by hand-cut thick steak fries. Not the same but listed the same on the menu. Won't be back.
Fabulous - A dependable favorite!.
I keep coming back again and again!
Bon Vie is a restaurant you can count on for good service and good food.
Lobster Bisque, Crab and Artichoke Dip, Bon Vie Salad, Roquefort Filet, Beef Stroganoff are amoung my favorites. Although I've honestly never had a meal that disappointed.
If you have a wait - visit the wonderful bartenders on the bar side.
Enjoy!
Wonderful!. Bon Vie is a wonderful restaurant!! The Food is delicious - esp. the lobster bisque and the filet! The Ambience, service are always wonderful! I can not say enough good things about Bon Vie!
A 2 1/2 hour lunch nightmare!. I love to sit on the patio at Bon Vie - but my last visit there will be my last visit there EVER. We waited about an hour for an outside table. Understandable on a weekend, but at all times there were at least 5 empty tables with no one sitting at them. When we finally got seated, we waited 20 minutes for drinks. 50 minutes AFTER that, I inquired about the SALADS- the waiter gave me a lame excuse that the chef burned the kids chicken fingers and had to cook them over. What this had to do with our salads, I don't know. There were 3 other tables that came and went before we even got our meal. After 1 hour we received our meal. The server knew we were upset and impatient but never offered us anything - no dessert, no money off. We're never going back.
