Bad Haircut at Polaris but Corporate Did Right Thing.
I previously wrote about the horrible haircut I got at the Polaris location. I went in with very long hair and pictures of a long, almost collar-length bob. I started out with Erica. I wanted to donate my hair to cancer patients if possible, but she made a mistake when cutting off the ponytail and could not fix it. I was sent to Zoe who assured me that she could blend the missing chunk without taking off more length. (Erica had already cut it much shorter than I had asked.) I told Zoe that I hated the short in back and long in front look, but she proceeded to give me the reverse mullet. I was distraught when I saw what she had done because I knew it would not work with my very wavy hair. I asked them to wet my hair to see my natural texture with the style, but they refused and the manager, Nissa, told me I needed to leave then but that I could come back on Wednesday (it was Friday) to have Zoe show me how to fix it curly. They also would not show me a mirror to see the back. I left crying but when I got to my car, I used my phone to take pictures of the back. When I saw that Zoe had taken an additional 3 inches, I became hysterical (I lost a minimum of 15 inches in the back) and drove to the mall to buy a wig. The cut looked a hundred times worse when I washed it and my natural texture kicked in.
That's my horror story. But it does have a somewhat happy ending. I notified corporate and sent pics of my hair before, the pics of the style I had taken to the salon that I wanted, and pics of the final result. Corporate's response was great. They agreed to pay for the wig and offered to cover the cost of my haircuts until my hair is grown out to look like the pic I had taken in. Tonya at corporate was very understanding and helpful. She set things up for me to see Camryn at Mill Run. Camryn was able to trim up the front so it looks cute and gave me tips for covering the bad spots that can only be fixed with growth. I'm just at the beginning of this process, but it's good to know that Kenneth's stands behind their reputation and will make things right when something like this happens.
Worst haircut ever.
I went to Andrea at the Polaris location and will not ever return. After waiting over 15 minutes past my appointment time, she finally acknowledged me.
I brought in a very clear picture of what I wanted. After discussing it, she assured me she could do the cut. After she finished, I looked in the mirror and it was the same cut she had always done on me, no difference! (I usually get long layers) I told her that it looked NOTHING like the picture. (The cut I wanted was very layered all over, shorter layers on top) After huffing and puffing, showing me that she was obviously upset with my unhappiness, she proceeded to cut my hair again; but all she did was lift up the top layers and cut those without blending them into the longer layers. So I ended up with this "step" in my hair that made it very difficult to style for the many months it took to grow out. I feel she half-assed it and didn't listen to me, much less pay attention to the picture I brought in. i was afraid to ask her to do it again for fear I would end up even more screwed up! My hair was well within the limits of creating the cut. I will never go back there again; no one apologized to me and I just felt she was irritated with me when I left. Sorry, but if I'm paying $55 for a haircut, I want it to be RIGHT and I deserve the service I paid for. Never again, I have never had a fantastic cut from Kenneth's- I started going to Charles Penzone's and they far exceed Kenneth's level of "service". Give Penzone's a try- they are always on time with your appointments and they treat you like their only customer. Plus, the stylists really listen to you and make sure you are thrilled with what you receive. I just got the best cut of my life at Penzone's!!!
Avoid this salon!. I scheduled an appointment with Luci. The front desk staff was a little snobby with me, they were not the friendliest. I was supposed to go in at 1:15pm but she wasn't able to cut my hair until about a half hour later. Then, she washed and cut my hair. She was nice enough, but then she left me under a hair dryer for OVER AN HOUR!! There is no reason to have a machine dry my hair for that long and I have never had that done by anyone ever before. She left me sitting there for that long- then brought me back to her station to ask how I liked my cut. She didn't even style it! She was obviously over booked or didn't care about me. Definitely horrible service.
Horrible haircut, decent color.
They opened a new salon in Grove City a few months ago and I went to a male stylist - I believe his name was Ron (?)
Anyway, the color turned out pretty good, but I hated the haircut. I took a picture and was very specific on the best way to cut my hair. He said that he could achieve the look by doing it another way. It didn't resemble the picture at all and was a really sloppy, shabby haircut. AND, it was really expensive, too.
The Best Salon I have been to in Years. I haven't felt comfortable with a stylist in who knows when to the point to where I could walk in sit down with relieg and ease and say do what ever you want. I have yet to experience a poor cut or color job by my stylist! Not only was my stylist wonderful but those doing all other contributeing parts were just as wonderful and nice. I didnt feel as if I were another tip or method of payment. I also have never experienced such rich and long lasting color in my hair! I favor the red and deep burgandy colors for hightlights and all over color. I continure to get complaments on the color and cut. My color has lasted well and not yet faded as do some others after a few washes. I will recomend all to this salon and location!!!
I Miss Kenneth's!. I found Kenneth's while living in Columbus for about 2 years. I got the best haircut of my life from a stylist named Linde and continued to enjoy a great haircut each time I went back to her (which was probably about a year). She was pleasant and professional and her cuts were perfect for me. I also had my eyebrows shaped there once, and although I do not remember who shaped them for me, they were also excellent and perfect for my face. Since moving to Rochester, NY about one and a half years ago, I have been cycling through stylists and salons, trying to find one that matches Kenneth's. I am still looking!
Loved it. I recently got my hair cut at the Kenneth's in Dublin by Tyson. He did a great job, explained everything that he was doing, and showed me how to fix it on my own to make it look like he did. He also showed me several products that I could use on it but did not pressure me into buying any. It was a great experience and Tyson was the most personable stylist I've ever had cut my hair, not to mention he is very cute! Everyone loved my new cut. I would definately recommend Kenneths, especially Tyson, to anyone wanting a great cut in a nice atmosphere.
Kenneths promotes itself as the premier spa; this has not been my experience. My first was for an eyebrow waxing, by a young lady just out of school who wielded the wax with a heavy hand. I barely made it out with eyebrows at all. What little I did have was uneven. After I complained there was no apology by her or management. Just the excuses that she was newer and misunderstood my request.
When I received a gift certificate for Christmas I went in for a trim. How bad could it be? I now know. Between working on two other ladies I received a half haircut and the Styles Director didnt bother to dry and style my hair before proclaiming the job done. I would rate Kenneths an overpriced Saturdays with none of the pampering you expect in a Spa Salon.
Ask for Liz. Liz is the best stylist in Columbus! I highly recommend her. She listens really well and she is a really nice person.
The WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. STAY AWAY! I made an appointment for cut and color. I had a newbie that took twenty minutes to decide on what color to use and then left it on way too long because he was cutting someone elses hair and had to use toner (which has never been needed before). It took him over four hours to ruin my hair and then told me I had to reschedule my cut because he had another appointment. I left with my hair as wet as could be and when it dried- it was the worst color ever and totally fried. I had to take a day off work to come in and get it fixed by a color expert and it took another four hours and had to cut off four inches of damage! I still had to pay (even extra for the toner-his mistake) and didn't even get an apology!
