The happy, culinary bustle is reminiscent of a Manhattan food market.. The Scene


Tables are laden with plates of olives, cheese, bread, roasted veggies and heavily spiced meats. Cases of wine await evening parties and afternoon picnics. It's kind of like a Manhattan market with its tall shelves and counters filled with fancy pastas, baked chickens and white platters piled high with marinated vegetables. Come in the morning, when things are just getting out of the oven and the smells are maddening. You can even sit outside. Otherwise, it's take-out territory.



The Food
Some of the best picks: penne with arugula and prosciutto, chicken Marsala, penne carbonara (cream, bacon and egg makes up the delectable sauce) and stromboli, hot and smoking from the ovens. The chicken Castellan can be a tad dry; the best dishes incorporate sauces, olive oil or heavier dressings.
