Rude Awakening. Forget it. Too many rude overzealous security bouncers for us. I think they are looking for trouble. I was not hassled, but I observed too much to go back. Sorry Shark Club. No drinks for me. Not coming back in 1 year either...

A place for grown-ups to bowl with style or sweat to dance hits, circa 1990.. The Scene
This palatial, nouveau-retro space was created expressly for a thortyish clientele. For people in that age bracket, this club is very inviting. A stylish bar absorbs the center of the main room, with a dance floor on one side, a wall lined with booths on the other. Furnishings are all round, curved or oval, which gives the club a pleasant, art deco-meets-'50s-living-room feel. A second level offers a view of the dance floor below and a gathering place for billiard fans. The mid-20s to mid-30s crowd can expect to hear the stuff they boogied to in college. Think "Funky Cold Medina," "Bust a Move" and "Baby Got Back."

The Lanes
Have a Betty Page haircut? Like to wear antique union labor shirts? This is up your alley. Six vintage lanes are lined with red lights, the balls are various shades of neon and the shoes are snappy white.

The Food
A limited menu offers appetizers, sandwiches and salads. The Tex-Mex nachos are a tasty option for groups.

the shark club is awful. the shark club had so much potential, but just fails to live up to it. i enjoyed the interesting, retro decor, and the bartenders were friendly and made excellent drinks. but the dj has got to be the worst in the city, and while the decor would lead one to expect a hip, upscale clientele, that was clearly not the case. the first time i went to the shark club it was a good time, and a good crowd, in spite of the bad music. but the crowds have plummetted both in quantity and quality. i've given the shark club several chances, but i think it's time to give up.

itsux. We went with a group of friends to the Club to go bowling and have a few drinks. The youngest in our group was 30+. We were hasseled by the rudest bunch of a-hole bouncers known to man. Before we left I tried to get a cup of coffee from the bar for my wife, they told me the coffee maker was broken, so I told the thug bouncer that I was going next door to get a cup of coffee. When I returned he tried charging me cover again, check my ID (again) and would not let me in with the coffee, or even let me inform the others that I could not get back in. This place is for teenie boppers and wanna-be's. It SUX!

G E S T A P O ! ! !. What a dump!!! Shark Club was a great place to hit in late 90s. Right now (Aug02) it turned into a place ran by at least 100 paranoid, pissed, extremely rude security dolts, walking around, and constantly looking at everyone, everywhere, ready to jumps you for anything out of ordinary. That takes all the fun out of that place. I put my head on my g/fs shoulder, and closed my eyes, moment later, a security moron came up to me, strongly shook my arm, and ask me in a pissed tone of voice , Are you ok? If you want to sleep, go outside! Cheeeez, get a grip people!!

So if you enjoy Alcatrez you will definitely like Shark club
