Editorial Review for O'Shaughnessy's Public House – by Karen Sottosanti

The Scene
A hot spot for well-groomed singles to schmooze at after-work happy hours, O'Shaughnessy's is also packed on weekends, especially after Blue Jackets games. The pub is quietly gorgeous with stained-glass windows, gleaming woodwork, cozy padded booths, a fireplace and tables with low stools. The pub stands along Irish Broadway, the center of local Irish social life 100 years ago.

The Food
Enjoy traditional dishes like fish and chips, "beef and brew" soup and corned beef hash with eggs, potatoes and scallions. Don't miss Meghan's rarebit, a rich fondue made of Irish cheddar, Bass ale, spring onion and cream, and accompanied by toasted sourdough for dipping. Non-Irish favorites include the Cobb and Hawaiian seafood salads. Wash it all down with "O'Shaughnessy's Dam Good Beer," created by the Columbus Brewing Company.

O'Shaughnessy's has managed to achieve an environment where people in suits are as comfortable as those in jeans. I originally stopped in because of the great location and continue to go for the authentic and addictive comfort food, the salmon is wonderful too and a bit on the lighter side. Tons of great beers on draft, beautiful rich atmosphere, what more could a city dweller ask for?

Pros: accomodates groups

Hands down the BEST fish n chips in the city, even better than old bag o nails. Great place to be pre and post Blue Jacket games (should the NHL have a season...) Everything is authentically Irish and imported, it has a great laid-back, confident atmosphere. Staff is friendly with good service. There's nothing quite like a Guiness and a basket of fish n chips here... definitely a great place to be.

Pros: Fish n chips, Beer, Ambience

Cons: can be crowded
