Editorial Review for Tony's Italian Restaurant – by Lori Sutton
The Vibe
This is a classy, white-tablecloth kind of place housed in a historic brick building in the Brewery District. The decor hasn't changed in years but it doesn't have to.
For Starters
Choose from the classics, like Meat & Cheese Antipasta, Escargot and Shrimp Cocktail. The Roman Bread is garlic bread made better with gorgonzola cheese and black olives.
It's What's For Dinner
While one section of the menu is called "House Specialties," the real house specialty is the veal--tender and flavorful preparations including veal Piccata and veal Marsala. The steak choices are filet mignon, New York strip or medallions sauteed in red wine.
Pasta & Pesce
A popular pasta choice is Tony's Own Fettuccini, with shrimp, scallops and crab in a cream sauce. The eggplant parmesan is excellent, not undercooked. Shrimp scampi is another classic offering, with just the right amount of garlic.

I love Tony's. Walking in, you can tell you are in an upscale restaurant. The prices reflect the quality of food. The escargot is wonderful - both in texture and taste. The food presentation is nothing fancy but that isn't really why i eat food. the sauces are flavorful, the pasta is fresh and delicious and the wine list is full of wonderful choices. As compared to the other choices for Italian food in columbus, ohio, this place certainly shines! We have always had good service and been seated quickly, even on a saturday night. Please try this place! You will not be disapointed.
Pros: everything!
Cons: nothing!

First, the food tasted like something I could whip up (not a talented cook mind you) in the kitchen with some flour and water and a jar of value alfredo sauce in about ten minutes, especially since there appears to be no need to make sure the pasta isn't hard as a rock and undercooked to the point well beyond al dente. Second, for this small, unsatisfying meal, be ready to pay a substantial sum of money, akin to what you would pay somewhere like McCormick and Schmicks or the Fish Market. Finally, if you have a coupon, make sure you look around on the internet for whatever the rules are for them, they don't really seem to want to honor them. Overall, this was quite the bad experience, and costly. Had we not been there with friends that I didnt want to offend, the food would have gone back to the kitchen multiple times. Save yourself the trouble, and just go somewhere else. There are several other nice italian restaurants around.
Pros: Didn't really find anything I would like to put in this box.
Cons: Cost, taste, and refusal to honor coupons
