Editorial Review for The Elevator Brewery & Draught Haus – by Kae Denino and Tracy Zollinger Turner

The Scene
Gorgeous woodwork, stained glass and oceanic lighting in the bar area. Young professionals lounge around, sipping from exotic glassware. The dining room's wooden booths have high, thick walls, but the halogen lights are distractingly bright.

The Food
Appetizer-wise, the Prince Edward Island mussels are serviceable, but the crab cakes aren't quite as spicy as the menu suggests. The pork chops are a hit--two meaty monsters served with smashed sweet potatoes and super acrid mustard greens, all in a pool of jalepeno nut brown jus. As for beer, you will not find any not crafted by Elevator. Lite beer and domestic pilsner drinkers will like Lift Light or Pinch Hit Pilsner, while aficionados should try Necessity IPA, Bott Brothers ESB or Marzen Marzen. Guiness fans will like Ole Pen Nitro Stout, and Shifty Dando's Nut Brown Ale should please just about anyone.

The Extras

Site of a speakeasy during Prohibition, this location is fabled to be haunted by ghosts bent on ensuring that no business succeed in the space. So far, Elevator seems to have made peace with the spirits--maybe it's the beer.

Im not a big beer drinker but my husband loves the selection... I like supporting local businesses and this is one worth checking out. The food is good but a bit pricey which is to be expected from a downtown restaurant. Nice servers and envronment!

This was some of the worst service that I have ever had at any upscale restaurant in Columbus. Our server was not attentive and when asked simple questions about the food/drinks would answer rudely and would not be of any help. Additionally our server was rude and refused to split the bill for our group but did not make us aware that we couldn't split the bill until after we were ready to pay. Besides the horrible service, the food was decent but was overpriced for the quality.
