Relatively new kids on the ice block of the National Hockey League..
The Skinny
A team that was four years in the making, the Blue Jackets probably won't be able to shake the "expansion team" label for a few more seasons. But the crew has done fairly well since debuting in the 2000-2001 season, putting up respectable fights against NHL veterans. The biggest challenge facing the Blue Jackets may come from the fans: As a hockey town, Columbus is still an unknown commodity. The Chill was a success from 1991 to 1999, but, like its three predecessors dating back to the 1960s, that team came and went.
The Crowd
Loyal residents and sports enthusiasts making the most of Nationwide Arena, as well as those who like a good scuffle on ice.

Go Blue Jackets.
It's the entire arena district experience that makes it fun. The hockey games are great, despite the usual outcome, and the atmosphere is electric but the district itself is packed with thousands of people, great bars and restaurants and lots of other entertainment within walking distance. Start the evening at Buca di Beppo for some huge delicious Italian food (or Black and Blue for more upscale) then hit the game. Afterward, stop by O'shaughnessy's for a beer in a beautiful Irish pub filled with boisterous happy fans looking for a good time.

great venue.
The Blue Jackets have a great home to bring a championship to. The surrounding area is packed with entertainment and gives off a good vibe; its own small community.
