Editorial Review for Bicentennial-Galbreath Park – by Bill McComb
The Scene
Beautiful fountains and multiple sculptures can be found around the 4.7-acre Bicentennial Park. A short walk from downtown, its picnic area and multi-purpose trail are constantly in use.
Concerts on the Half-Shell
The highlight of Bicentennial is its floating amphitheater. The stage shell actually floats suspended on the Scioto River. The amphitheater boasts gigantic concrete tiers affixed like stairs to create stadium-style seating. Even when there's no activity in the amphitheater, these slabs are perfect for relaxing, reading a book or just watching the river. The free Rhythm on the River series features local and national music acts every Friday evening from the beginning of June through the end of August.
