Editorial Review for First Watch – by Nikki Buchanan
The Scene
If you believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, you're bound to like First Watch where omelettes, waffles, French toast and all things a.m.-ish are served until 2:30 p.m. every day. There are lunch items, too--Reubens, quesadillas and Cobb salads--but it's the giant breakfast section of the menu that pries the old eyeballs open. Well, that and the carafe of coffee, left at the table to get that essential morning buzz going.
The Food
The menu offers everything from egg-white omelettes for health nuts to biscuits and sausage gravy for those who are a little more cavalier about their cholesterol levels. Somewhere in between, you'll find Sonoran Frittatas (made with chorizo, tomatoes, melted cheese, sour cream and chives), salsa omlettes and fresh fruit crepes. Banana crunch pancakes are not to be missed.

This place is the type of breakfast I've always looked for and now, have found it. I order the chickichanga every time I go to this place and I've never been disappointed. Its Whipped eggs with spicy chicken, homemade chorizo, green chiles, onion, avocado rolled in a crispy flour tortilla and topped with Vera Cruz sauce and sour cream. The service is always very friendly and very fast. Dining time never goes over 30min during the week or an hour on sunday(their busiest day). First watch is a breakfast place with a southwest/mexican twist to breakfast--there are many dishes with salsa, avacado, sour cream, etc.

Relatively average breakfast (the home fries are terrible -- I think microwaved -- either mushy or extremely burning hot), but menu variety may appeal to families. Nice and comfortable store interior and facilities. National chainstore concept -- stores maintain same standards and offerings wherever I've experienced (thus same ratings).
Pros: breakfast variety, nice store amenities, waitresses
Cons: bad home-fries, average quality foods, chainstore sameness
